Polished aluminum Alcoa 22.5 wheels...

What's the going price of these?
I found some for $200 a pop.

Although I have 6 wheels... Can I get by with the two inner rears being black painted steel? Or need to run all 6 aluminum?

What do I need to look for, as far as upgrading my 19.5's to 22.5's ?
(10 lug pattern)
Are all 10 lug patterns the same?

Btw chrome wheels make a bus look bad ace!

You can run mixed aluminum/steel wheels. They make special plastic separators to put between them to prevent electrolysis between the different metals.

There's one main difference between ten-lug patterns. Some have "Hub Piloted" wheels and others have "Stud Piloted" wheels. The hub piloted wheels are most easily identified by the lug nuts having washers made into them. The stud piloted wheels use tapered lug nuts without any washers. You'll need the wheels to match whatever setup your bus has.

chrome wheels do make a bus look great!.. ive seen some Blue-bird conventionals that were ordered that way.. and they look sharp even as a school bus

Not all 10 lug patterns are the same. As has been said, there are basically two different patterns to look for, "Stud Pilot" centers or "pilots" the wheel on the studs, and "Hub Pilot" that pilots or centers the wheel on the hub (axle).
Back in the day the "Budd" style wheels are stud pilot with a tapered nut (inner nut for inside dual, outer nut for outer wheel of a dual), and the newer (some 1980s and up) use locating flats on the hub for both the inner and outer wheel (of a dual) and the "nut" with attached swiveling washer only "clamps" the wheels to the hub, but not center them.
If you are not sure, post a picture.
The stud pilot are usually 3/4-16" inner and 1-1/8" outer, and the hub pilot are metric 22mm stud threads
Steel/alum-many folks will run aluminun on the outside for looks and steel on the inside to save money.
$200 each is CHEAP for new wheels, but pretty steep for used wheels. In our area, used aluminum wheels sell for $125-150, and new from about $275 and up
Generally the stud pilot will have a 13/16" square drive inner and 1-1/2" hex out and the stud pilot usually have a 33mm hex, although there are some odd ones.

For all of you that have Dayton style hubs& wheels, you can convert them. It costs about 1200.00 per axle, just talk to your local ' Six States' truck parts dealer. They are like a NAPA for heavy equipment. That price usually includes new drums, brake pads, wheel bearings , you have to supply the rims though.
