Re: POLL : How Much $$$ Have You Spent Converting Your Skoolie?

Since I managed to obtain a lot of parts & pieces free from various sources, I think I've only got around $2,000 in mine, not counting the cost of the bus which was another $2,100... Only things I had to buy were material such as 2x2's, waste tanks, paneling, some of the cabinets, most of the plumbing & electrical and ceiling material. The only appliance I paid for was the refridge which cost me around $300....

I got the Water heater, furnace, roof a/c, stove top, sofa, toilet, fresh tank, sureflo pump, propane mounting system, propane auto-switchover regulator, kitchen & bathroom sinks, 2 air ride seats, mattress, & kitchen sink base all for free...

Re: POLL : How Much $$$ Have You Spent Converting Your Skoolie?

2000 for da bus.
2000 for state of the art onboard wvo filtering and flow system
500 total for all building materials(reclaimed and found for free materials)I'm a woodworker so I pimped it out with wood detailing
100 for paint
50 or so for electrical materials
and I'll guess around 300-500 for stuff I can't remember(this incudes a thorough going over by mechanic who replaced brake lines and rear brakes; aswell as for two new tires.)The tires were a real steal.
1,000,000 calories worth of sweat and blood
all of this was offset and paid for on my first trip from colorado to oregon coast for a month long trip.
use it up; wear it out; make it do; or do without

Re: POLL : How Much $$$ Have You Spent Converting Your Skoolie?

1850 - bus
150 - wood for floor
600 - paint (got real automotive paint... what a waste of money)
200 - kitchen stuff (counter top, cabnits ect...)
100 - water tank & pump stuff
150 - batteries
50 - inverter
100 - stereo
15 - goodwill chair (lazy-boy)
0 - used carpet, mattress, futon frame, fridge, truck bench seat.
500 - misc. (wood for bunks, rack, ect...)
100 - tools (Harbor freight die grinder, saw-zall, drill)
150 - maintenance (few oil changes & few brake lines)
---------
about $4000 - rough estimate.... Not counting insurance, registration and taxes.

But worth it when I can say "yeah I built this all myself"

Re: POLL : How Much $$$ Have You Spent Converting Your Skoolie?

Oh mercy I am afraid to answer... Ok well so far spent about $15,000 for bus, infloor radiant heat, steel for new steel fab in raising roof and lowering sides of bus, 4 new 65 gallon tanks, propane generator, airbag suspension, slide out hardware, new brake parts, custom conversion windows, insulation, propane tanks, oh god should I keep going, lumber, random screws and hardware, countless books on how to do everything, a tank of diesel, new sheet metal skin, plumbing stuff, and well a ton of other stuff. But I am trying to build so I never have to plug in and so I can live in weather like up here in Canada. We figure another $25,000 should bite this project in the ass... this is all in Canadian funds though, so really pennies compared to the American Dollar.

Did I mention that we let the project get a little out of hand...

Re: POLL : How Much $$$ Have You Spent Converting Your Skoolie?

The original jacuzzi bus: not much ...just a couple/few grand total. sold for over $7K

jacuzzi bus II = about $5K sold for $19,200 with shipping

jacuzzi bus III i built for another guy. parts and labor plus bus = cost him about $11K. That worked out for abotu $15/hr each for me and my buddy jimmy.

Jacuzzi bus IV...4500 for bus, 1K for fuel to drive home from AZ. $1K for flights for two people plus rental car while in AZ. all the parts, paint, batteries, spare alternator, fabric, tile and other materials, plus renting indoor heated space and all the other stuff including vinyl lettering oil change etc.....
total: about $13K or so......maybe 14K. Sold for $18.5k. Really wanted 25k or so, but in this economy the jacuzzi bus market seems to have dropped off a bit.
