Prebuilt assembled kitchen counters

Has anyone bought one of those kitchen cabinet kits from HomeDepot or Lowes where you buy the pieces, put it together, and you have a kitchen counter ready to go? I'm not a handy person so I'm looking for alternatives. Any thoughts?

Ok... I think I would call that a cabinet.

I have seen a number of people use that type of stock cabinets with reasonable success. I have not used them in a bus as I prefer a plywood cabinet box and those are particle board boxes.

They are *decent for what they are- particle board, IRC. Modular-You just screw the sides together to make a longer counter. quick-n-dirty.

What look you going for? Craigslist has shabby chic on-sale every day if you are just going to paint them and they may even be better quality (usually).

never even thought about going to craigslist. I'm just not handy and the thought of building cabinets from scratch made me feel a bit uneasy. I'll check Craigslist, thanks.

what do you guys do to keep the drawers closed? it seems that most home kitchen cabinets dont have much intertia needed to open a drawer.. so on the road around a corner and the drawers would go flying..

I'm getting mine through HD. The only surgery I'll have to perform is over the wheel arches and the front heater. Oh, and the AC in the window. Much easier than CL because at HD, you can actually touch the furnishings. CL? You have to rely on someone's description and photography.

I bought a single hampton Bay cabinet from Home Depot to try it out. I ended up not installing it because I found it to be really flimsy and pretty cheap quality. I returned it and went with Ikea cabinets instead for about the same price.
