I'd definitely forego the 16ga if its for skins. 18 is plenty.
EastCoast, I agree about the gauge. I believe 18ga will be more than sufficient.

The place that I have found the best prices thus far told me that they quote based on weight. So, the more sheets ordered the lower the price. I just sent them a message to get a quote on some untreated 18ga.

I'd be happy to get together and put in a bulk order to help us all save a little bit of money. I am not in a huge hurry to get this done but I'd like to do it in the next couple of months so I can start skinning as soon as our rainy season is over.
