Question about lowering a floor
I have seen several posts about raising the ceiling of a bus but that is way to complicated for me and I don't think I need to, it's just me living in the bus.
There are a couple places though that my intended design would benefit from lowering the floor about 18".
Other than cutting the section out, framing the shape you want with a good quality angle steel and then building a sheet metal shell with insulation then maybe 3/4" plywood would there be anything else to lower a section.
I know it's sounds easy to type it and it will be more complicated but I didn't want to miss any major step.
I'll try to explain what I want to do, and you all can tell me if it's just plain crazy.
My bed, queen size will be facing the sides not front to back. That will leave enough room to put a small shelf unit on one side of the bedroom. If I could cut out a section of floor just in front and under the middle of the shelf unit I could sit on the floor, put my legs down in the lowered portion and have a laptop on one of the shelves (adjustable).
I would also have a piece of wood that could go over the hole when not in use.
Thoughts?
