Smile Removing emergency doors with vandal alarms?

We are getting ready to remove both of the emergency doors on our bus. They are currently equipped with vandal alarms that, when not in the proper position, stop the bus from starting. These latches are coming off with the doors (obviously), so what do I need to do so that my bus will start once the doors have removed and I've riveted in new metal? I'm assuming I can't just cap the wires and be done with it.

Thank you!

Hi,

It depends on the switch. Often these switches simply go to ground when active or disarmed. For those wires you may just connect to the other end of the switch or ground.

While some switches are disabled if they do not see a ground. For those wires you just cap off.

Now to figure out which is which, get the doors in a position where the bus will start, then turn it off and use a volt meter to check the continuity of each switch.

If that is as confusing as it felt, then do one switch at a time and check to make sure the bus will start after each one is bypassed.

Good luck!

DDM , Where are you located and what are you planning to do with those doors? I need one for my garage. ... with or without the frame (preferably with).
