replacing the floor. Why?

Got all of my seats out of the bus today. Looking at my blank slate I WAS WONDERING Why a lot of people remove the wood floor in thier bus and replace it? Mine is in great shape and has the green commercial laminate stuff over it. I was planning on just leaving it and laying a floating pergo floor on top of it. I also plan on insulating the bottom of the bus and skinning most of the belly. I am trying to avoid loosing any head room. Anyway, thanks for the help. I will have many more to come

1. Because the flooring smells. You might not realize, but once you get it out you'll notice a big difference.

2. It doesn't offer much insulation.

3. It's relatively uneven which can be a problem when you put certain flooring types over it.

4. There is a good chance it's NOT in good condition. I thought mine was too...until I pulled it up. It's good to start from a clean slate because you can't replace it once you've converted.

You wanna go through all that work but shy away from ripping out a floor? Believe me you want to at least get rid of the rubber vinyl smell, and probably once you start lifting that you'll find reasons to replace what is below.
If you just plan on trowing a couple couches in there and port a potty etc. minimal effort to go camping, leave the floor as it is but by the sounds of it you are planing a full conversion so redo the floor. Just my way of thinking.....
