Re: Roof Pannel Sealant

we I would use 3-m seam sealer I think the part number is 03809. this is just from memory I will need to see if I still have a tube in the shop.
tomorrow I will go to my shop and see what the correct part nuber is.
I use this becasue its paintable, its not made of silicone, It last 50 years + and still stays flexible. with the vibrations of any vehicle flexability is important. you put it into caulk gun and reasonible in price oriellies carries it and any body supply does too.

Re: Roof Pannel Sealant

Sorry fellas.... Had a lot of honey-do jobs lately, not to mention that I had to take wifey out on vacation....

I was watching "Ship-Shape TV" the other day and the guy said 3M 5000 is the industry standard for boats... In the episode that I was watching, they were attaching a "Tower" on one of their boats and they said the best was that 3M 5000 stuff... Anyone ever use any of that stuff???

Oh, BTW, yeah for sealing seams on the roof, sides and panels...

Re: Roof Pannel Sealant

Ive used both. The 5200 is too difficult to work with and about impossible to clean up. It is more of a dual purpose to adhere and seal which is why it is so sticky. They use it to seal/adhere thru hull fittings etc. In my experience, paint does not adhere all that well to the 5200, seam seal is made to be painted (you have to paint it according to the instructions). I'd go with an automotive seam sealer. I used the 3m fast set which is very messy and also Avueco which was alot easier to work with and half the price. You can buy it online for $5-$6/tube.
