Roof raise cost?

I've done some research and can't really find prices. After all was said and done how much did you end up spending on your roof raise? I'm hoping I can fit in my budget
I'm going to do as much as I can myself. From cutting and raising but I can't do any of the welding myself. I've got a 40 foot bus and it's looking to raise 24in

You don't *have* to weld, you could drill & bolt.

Depends on many things. Are you reusing the windows ? I think 1500 in materials is a good guess. You can spend 2500 on windows and doors .

There's no inherent need to weld a roof raise. Rivets as in the original construction are also an option. Solid rivets if you have access to both sides, or blind if you don't. A fair 3X or 4X air hammer for setting solid rivets will set you back around US$200-300 IIRC.

Depends on your local market. What's the going rate for a pint tears, a quart of blood, and a gallon of sweat?

The new sheet metal for my raise (6 pcs 4x8 and 5 pcs 4x10 sheets of CR 18ga) is $487.66. I bought a Hobart 140 for this project tho I don't plan on welding the skins. I welded patches on the floor and will likely use it to build many other things such as frames for holding tanks, storage, etc. I have NOT bought rivets to replace the ones I'm pulling. No idea yet on ceiling and floor treatments tho probably wood (no riveting/welding for that). Without doing interior walls/floors/ceilings I think I am going to need about 500 rivets to replace existing. Maybe another 300 or 400 for new rivets.

Haven't done my raise (yet). I have another 250 rivets to go. Will almost certainly buy the sheet metal this coming Monday. I have the day off to go pick it up, get drunk, and cry in my beer. What the hell was I think with this project???

No matter what it costs, it sure beats the hell out of paying someone ten or twenty grand to do what can be done in a weekend with some friends!

Lol, fair enough. Keep dragging your feet and I'm going to get ahead of you. Bought the sheet metal yesterday. ****'s about to get serious.
