rounded door

ok, most of my walls are done as is subfllor. next is the entrance door. the door(s) on my 88 ward is a typical bi-fold but is not square. the front top corner is rounded. anyone ever istalled a house or rv style door on one of these? if so, how? i was given a house door that is metal on outsides with glass in center, but the top right corner will have to be modified. all ideas welcome!

How about a picture so we can see what you have to work with?

Re: rounded door

How wide is the door, how tall is the door? How wide is the door opening at the widest part? How tall is the door opening?
Are you a welder?

Re: rounded door

I don't think that door will work, looks like you would be cutting into glass.

If you had a solid door (no glass) you could cut it to fit and then add a smaller glass window later, OR... you could square off the opening and use a narrower door--the door is smaller but the opening will be about the same as what you have now with the bifold in inside the doorway.

Re: rounded door

you might try the door upside down..... glass on bottom.....and trim the solid portion of the door. maybe install another window in it.

a metal wrap door isnt the easiest to work with..... something will have to cover your new cut edge.

door and opening are 32". dont remember but the height of door is around 4" taller than opening, i am not a welder, but can weld and have access to nice welding rig mounted on a trailer.

thought about that, also thought about filling window with wood or sheet metal. how would one cut the door? what tool would work best?

Re: rounded door

I think you'll find that the original front hing can be turned around so that the door opens out. I would think something like this
http://www.morehandles.co.uk/scotch-rim-lock.html could be adapted for a latch. Although a quick search only found new ones in UK. You
can find plenty of older used ones, but only have a skeleton key.
