Question safety features preventing engine from starting????

My bus won't start, but I believe it has something to do with one or more of the safety features. The bus ran like a top for the three hour drive home, then I've started it twice in the month since it's been here. The last time I tried to start it it made a buzzer noise and wouldn't start until I finally realized the back door had to be closed as a safety feature (then it started right up again with no trouble). Now this time it's making the same buzzer noise but won't start even with the door closed. I've been doing a bunch of research and probably don't know the terminology to get to the bottom of this, but I suspect others on the board will understand (I hope!) What else might I be doing wrong?
Are these safety features something that I can disable whenever I get to removing all the unnecessary wiring?
Thanks bunches!
Jamie

Did you lock the back door? Some buses won't start with the backdoor open and they won't start if the backdoor is locked.

I want to make a dice set for diagnosing these kind of problems and keep them in the dashboard.

Some Ideas for Each Side:
In neutral
Rear door locked
Dead battery
Bad solenoid
Bad starter
Rear start/ignition switches (rear engine buses)

thats enough ideas to cover a cube!

I guess it was in reverse yesterday! It started right up when I changed the gears. The shifter is a bit hard to read but that seems to make sense. Thank you all again.

Well, I pretty new to this, so I'm not so hard on myself :-0
Basically, I drove it home and have done research to start the renovation project. Feels pretty good so far! But I couldn't do this without the great help from this board!
