Sheet metal guage for windows
What thickness are you all using when taking out windows and covering them with sheet metal?

I am wondering the same thing. Also are you gonna cut out the pieces to fit each window or long sheets?

Re: Sheet metal guage for windows
After we raised the roof, we went back with 20ga. paint-lock. If you are doing one window at a time, I think a lighter gauge would be ok, especially if you are backing it with a plywood or something. I still wouldn't go lighter than a 26ga. doing one at a time and that with a backing.

Re: Sheet metal guage for windows
Thanks everyone. I'm going to be covering the lower windows on the rear of the bus but keeping the higher ones. I also plan on removing 1-2 windows on each side. I plan on sheet metal, insulation board and then my wall paneling.

Individual pieces. I also have some rust on the back that I'm going to clean out, bondo up and cover with sheet metal.

If you're adding plywood (or rigid insulation) behind it, I'd use some construction ashesive

WARNING!!!! read the label for your liquid nails if you plan to glue your hard insulation. make sure its the kind that is safe to use on hard insulation otherwise the liquid nails will eat your insulation up. END of WARNING
good luck with your conversion....

I'm sure everybody is that intelligent, but if you don't know that liquid nails can eat insulation then you don't think about it till it is to late. And how hard is it to use liquid nails? Do you really read the directions in that very small print?

Read instructions. Why the hell would I want to do that? I'm a guy. It's against my genetic upbringing.

Instructions are just another man's opinion on how I should do things.
