Skoolie friendly road help....sticky?

I was recently broken beside the road while on the way home with my “new” 40’ bus. Not being familiar with it’s mechanicals at all was faced with two major leaks simultaneously that did not make it undriveable but likely would have if left unaddressed before I got it home to more familiar resources. I am mechanically inclined, not afraid to get dirty when necessary, and was armed with a pretty good selection of tools. Even still I was extremely lucky to have stopped to evaluate and sleep within walking distance of a Walmart, Taco Bell, car wash (with outside bay), and NAPA store. I reached out for help via text and phone to friends that were very knowledgeable but 800 miles away and this forum. This forum and its members were very helpful, encouraging, and supportive and before the sun set on the next day my son (11) and I were back on the road and headed towards home. By the way....thanks a ton for the support, advice, and encouragement.....it meant the world to me and made the difference in my success.

All that to get to what I’m really thinking...I have a business very near I-70 in the middle of Missouri. I would be happy to be a resource to other travelers who need some help, parking off the highway, or just local advice. Is there a sticky or map anywhere that is often checked when someone needs help or a place to park?

I like this idea.

Some day... we're planning to set up this sort of thing... cheap near/off highway place to park and work on "stuff". Need to finish our bus (and ride about) first.

What goes around comes back around 10 fold...especially good karma!
Paying it forward is one of the best ways to get really good satisfaction out of life!

I am in deep south Miami Dade County, Florida, right off the Florida turnpike, so anyone traveling down to the Florida Keys and needs help I too am here to help, local advice, breakdown help!

A Map/app with skoolie contacts across the country would really be great, if anything it would give one a reason for going that way just to make some new friends!

There is a skoolie map on here.

I don't know if it could be used for this function?

I think some sort of easily found list of folks that can offer assistance or a place for traveling skoolies can stop for a night or two is a great idea.

I am not a great hand when it comes to turning wrenches but I can fetch tools, refreshments and parts

I also have space with water and power (20amp) that is available with a bit of notice.

I am not a computer person so someone else needs to make said list appear. However can help any skoolie passing through that needs help. Have a full shop, and many years experience.

Great idea.

Have driveway space and 20A power if anyone travelling north has mechanical troubles...

Maybe a moderator can get this into a sticky for all users to access...

Maybe plot our locations on a map... add something to our profile as a flag for those that can host/help others.

I like the app idea, or maybe even a share map overlay...

This thread could lead to a lot of "convenient" breakdowns near helpful skooliers.

No where as bad as adventure rider tent space. Or bmw rider anonymous.
