the vandallock

has anyone heard of the vandalock?? i saw a bus with it but can't find one for sale.
it was on the the front right exterior under the windshield and was a simple lockable handle that went to the door handle lever, resembled a garage door handle, i think i just answered myself.

Re: the vandallock

That handle is the manual release for letting the door open. The "Vandallock" is actually an electronic lock-out system that prevents the bus from being started unless certain things are done first. Specfically one needs to unlock the rear and side emergency doors (they have to be unlocked while hauling kids around in case of accident, the vandallock prevents the bus from starting if those are not unlocked first). It's easy enough to bypass, and can be used for additional security if you're worried about the bus getting stolen.

The system was designed so that when the bus is parked, they can lock it up to prevent people getting inside of it and vandalizing things. Most School buses are not secure and cannot be locked.

Re: the vandallock

I'm planning to install a lockable hatch on my bus right under the windshield. I'll be able to unlock and open the hatch, and then have a handle inside there that I can pull and release the door lock lever. The problem seems to be finding the right push pull cable that I need.
