Tire Thumping. What is it and should I do it?

Yep I have seen a few burning tires. We make a few trips to Oregon a year and this last one I noticed a lot of aligators in the middle of the interstate. A few miles later there was a truck with a 53' trailer and a smokin mess of a tire.

Anybody here going to use those tire pressure monitors? they are kinda pricey but it would be nice to know what the pressure and temp are like.

as an added bonus, the tire "thumper" also works well for self defense in sticky situations.

Not sure I could lay my hands on it under all the wood and other crap that's in the back right now, though.

This might work for tires, but it doesn't go over well as a method of choosing potential mates.
