Two tanks v. one?

Hi All,

I seek your sagacity and experience again... I'm looking for freshwater tanks, and have found 40 gal tanks on ebay for 40 bucks, new. I'd like about 75-100 gal of storage, and was wondering if people had a feeling about plumbing two tanks together (I assume they would just go to a junction before the pump? Yes?) versus one big tank. I'm going to put it/them either on the wheel well in back enclosed in a cabinet, or under the sink cabinetry. (I think, with gray water tank below decks).

Opinions?

Thanks!

I have two tanks plumbed together. One came with the bus (40 gal) and one I took out of my camper (10 gal). The big one is mounted in my kitchen sink base cabinet, the little one is in the lav sink base cabinet about 5 feet away. It works for me!

tanks

I also have two plummed together and they work fine. The decision was financially induced (read - "cheap"). The side benifit is more even distribution of weight. -Richard

*S* if you want to cheat and make a short side trip north I might have a place for you..up ini Anacortes there is a place next to the "rockfish bar and grill" that sells wine and beer makeing stuff..I picked up 4 30 gallon barrels (plastic food grade) for hauling them off..he gets a type of sugar water in them that he breaks into smaller batchs for beer makers...then tosses them out back until he or the rockfish drags them away...*S* and if you do go up there stop in and tell them Steve said Hi.

Sweet!

Steve--

That's great info, do you remember the place's name? Should I call to "reserve" some or are they just there in hoards?

Sounds like this week's bus trip!

Thanks for the tip!

*S* I worked at the Rockfish, he used to have three or more out back almost all the time..might give him a call first to make sure.

*edit* oh, and I have four of them, I am planning on painting them a flat black and makeing a temp mount for them on the roof and use them as a outdoor shower while at the lake...the flat black should give me some pretty warm water (hot even) since it gets up to 100+ here anyway...add in some sunlight *S* that should cut down onthe sand/mud in the bus as well..make everyone wash thier feet before entering.
