i use the l-5 in my home mounted in my bathroom, it just vents in the room. over two years now without any problems. the btu rating is the same as a large burner on a stove, no problems. remember the larger the unit the more water you have to run thru it. im going with the same size unit in my bus, plenty of water for what were doing.

EcoSmart Electric Tankless Water Heater
Has anyone used the EcoSmart water heater? I saw the EcoTemp, and filed it away, but the EcoSmart one caught my interest. I'm considering the Eco 11 as the smallest I can get and still have a hot shower. I'll be alone but for my cat and snake so I don't see the need to run multiple water faucets. Max Amperage is 57, Voltage 240, Kw 13.
The questions and answers and reviews are mixed and confusing.
https://www.amazon.com/EcoSmart-ECO-...D3DFJB7F66A86J
Otherwise, I'm considering the Ecotemp. I found this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Eccotemp-I12-...s+water+heater
And this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Eccotemp-L10-...words=eccotemp
I'm working on figuring out exactly what products I want and need to get for my Skoolie right now, working on the budget. Plumbing budget is mostly done, just need to sort out my water heater. But that will affect my solar electric budget too so working on that next.

I don't know nothing about these hot water heaters, but I'd suggest you don't buy to many parts and pieces before you're ready to install them. Most of us have a tendency to change our minds about our choices.

Luckily I have ZERO monies right now, I'm working on selling a classic car sos I can buy and convert my Skoolie. So that's not a problem right now!! And trust me, when it comes to stuff like this, I check double check triple check before I buy. Hence my field questions lol

I'm good at buying parts and pieces months before I can use them, often wishing I'd made a different choice based on newly learned information about certain items.
I've been considering an instant hot water heater. For ease of operation I plan on going with a generator to support electrical appliances, including the water heater. No battery bank or solar. Still going with the single fuel source for the vehicle and geny. It's not a perfect theory yet.

Installing a Dometic propane water heater
Does anyone have any tips on installing a Dometic propane water heater? We bought a used one that we found on Craigslist. Presently, we do not have a water heater in our bus. We are limited on where we can install it, any advice on that? We would appreciate any feedback . Thank you!

Did you try Dometic at https://www.dometic.com ? They have a support section on their website https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/support .

Maybe in a cabinet under the sink? Between the sink and the shower? I think some people have put them under the bus in a box.

I can only say that I have had very, very good experience with Gas Tankless Water Heater ин bitter winters. They do make a tankless water heater. Based on my experience I would be inclined towards them https://www.newtanklesswaterheaters.com/ if I was looking for a water heater.

I have a Marey tankless one in the shower of my pickup camper. Love it, endless hot water. The batteries do not always make contact and do have to fiddle with them sometimes. I vent it by opening the roof/skylight in the bathroom.
For the schoolie it has a tank type propane unit. Have not tried it, but know the electric rv units are for short showers only. Since I am remodeling anyway I have been thinking of putting the Marey in the bathroom and do away with the tank type.
I am happy to see so many comments preferring the tankless outdoor shower type heaters

My last few (and current) houses have all had tankless. Would never again consider anything else.

Ecotemp
Mine is mounted on the exterior. Up to 20 minutes of hot water at a time. Just turn off the water and it gives you another 20 minutes of hot water. Not many people take 40 minute showers.

Not in my house
We found a way to shut off the hot water only. Really works in limiting long hot showers.

The tankless systems are nice. Have one for house and work uses them. BUT i went with a Suburban SW6DE "traditional" style for one reason. I dont want to use up all my water!
If i could stay in shower for 30 mins, I prob would. This has enough for a 20 min shower. Thats my timer. Saves water for me. But i am solo, in a bus with more people I dont think my set up would work as well without a 10 min break between showers.
