Re: Waterbed in a Skoolie??

I used to think of doing this all the time when I was younger (dreaming about how my skoolie floorplan would be on my bus ride to school)

The first problem I think is heating the water. I'm sure you've slept on your waterbed when heater is off. No amount of blankets will keep you warm. Weight is no problem, but keeping the mattress in place during a sudden stop might be. Standard waterbed frames aren't beefy enough to keep a bed from moving in a 60mph - 0 sudden stop. Plus picture the mess if it started leaking!

I wouldn't do it.

Re: Waterbed in a Skoolie??

i always thought that a water bed mattress on the roof, perhaps that you don't fill until you are parked would be a great water storage bladder and would produce plenty of hot water in the summer time.

as for a a waterbed in a skoolie, i think phill was right on. weight isn't really a problem, but heating the waterbed is an issue.

Re: Waterbed in a Skoolie??

I would think if you are putting the bed in the bus you will be building your own frame anyways and I think you could get by with running the heater depending on how you use your bus.
