What did you do with your celing????

Just thinking about how to do my celing and wanting to see how you did yours......show them to me......Thanks

I would have to take some pictures, but my ceiling is the original bus ceiling decorated like a yearbook. Every time we take the bus somewhere and anyone that gets on it ends up signing it, drawing a picture, writing something, whatever. It's actually kind of fun to look back 3-4 years later at all the memories scribbled on it.

I put in a drop ceiling, I lost about 1 1/2 inches in overall height, but I'm short and it didn't cut into MY head room... Also, have driven it 3 times now with the ceiling in place, I've got them in there nice & tight and they DO NOT fall out as some people suggested might happen...

i rolled mine with a valspar latex interior paint "air kiss" with an eggshell finish. pretty sweet and spacious feeling and no structural work needed.
see my gallery for pics. also lost around a 64th or 128th of headroom whatever thickness the paint dries to. hehehe i am 6'1"

So far so good...I have thought about them all...I have been on some busses where you signed your name and wrote a message that is cool. I thinking more like cliff with something covering it. But I need the head room. And I think it will be cooler just something to stop heat transfer. Still thinking.

total lost of height is 3/4". I will be painting the plywood and putting stained trim strips every 2' from side to side. The sides will be covered either by cabinets or more plywood.

Again, me replying to an old post: Have I seen Luan on ceilings? stained maybe? My first introduction to that stuff has been here..i'm asuming it's very pliable that's why skoolie's use it?

Smitty: I so LOVE that tin ceiling idea. Super cool.
Heidi: I'm fairly certain I, too, have seen others use the Luan on the ceiling. Unfortunately, I know nothing of how it would work long term.


We painted our ceiling with two coats of ceramic additive http://www.hytechceramics.com/insulatingadditive.html for insulation purposes. Then we painted a sky over the top of it. Day sky at the front of the bus fading into a night sky at the back. Not finished with it yet but there will soon be a sun at the front and a moon in the back. And maybe some little LED stars (lights)?
