Its your water/fuel (diesel) separator. If you look, one line from your tank goes to it, then over to the fuel filter. There should be another return line back to your tank from the fuel filter/pump side, I believe.
That makes sense to me. Thanks for you inputs. This stuff is all new to me but I'm learning, I guess that's what counts.
It runs fine so i guess i should just leave it alone till there is a reason to mess with it? Any thoughts
Change all fuel filters, and I would say that thing included. At the very least, it's damaged. It's best to know how to change fuel filters on a diesel before you do it. Things like getting air (or debris) into fuel lines and subsequent excessive cranking of the engine has caused much grief to those learning how to maintain diesel engines.
You make a good point. I will do some research or just a mechanic on how to go about checking or replacing this thing. seems simple but I've come to find a lot of things aren't simple on this

it is a fuel filter and not a good design find a newer spin on and replace it asap as they were a pain to change, leaked all over the motor and probably getting hard to find in areas
I'm going to an international dealer as I'm sure there is some sort of adapter plate that I will need. Thanks for the info. Lot of experienced people on this site
