Re: What is this?
It enables you to work on the top of the tank without having to drop the tank, which would be a huge hassle. So, for instance, if you had an in-tank fuel pump go bad, or a fuel line break, or ... things like that.

I thought that, so when I lay my floor do you think I should leave access to it? That's easy enough, so it would be worth it right?

Well, that's what I did. Of course mine is hidden under a couch, so it is not an eyesore, and I couldn't think of any good reason to seal it up.

Re: What is this?
Our access will be under the dishwasher. We planned it that way. We have already used it to pull and repair the fuel level float. Pulling a dishwasher isn't a big deal.

Re: What is this?
nope... i own a bus
so......i'm glad i looked at this thread.
whats in the tank of a diesel?
is it just the sending unit? i could live keeping track of my tank if that fails.
or
is there a fuel pump that maybe i should replace now and be good?
this complicates things

Re: What is this?
worst case would be if one of the rubber fill hoses gets a crack or the vent line gets clogged
some may have lift pumps intank
