what is this part?

Hello all~
Went and looked at a bus this weekend, it was a Ford B700 with 5.9C and AT545 and airbrakes

On the front frame rail on each side(outside of rails towards tires) were these "junction boxes" with what appeared to be hoses(it was 0* with wind blowing so it was a quick look) all where cut short both sides the same...so what are they?

Not brake related because they were plumbed with red 1/2" line

I am thinking they were air lines that went to the stop sign and front swing gate thingy which where both removed....am I right?

Re: what is this part?

I'm going to say a greasing system, each line went to a grease zerk somewhere on that side. There's probably a zerk under all of that grease on top. Were the lines coming out about 3/16"?

Re: what is this part?

yes they were, dugh I didn't even think of that(even with all the grease on top)

I quess they were not used because of inefficentcy(waste of grease if one fitting becomes clogged) I have seen two busses like this.

Hopefully they replaced all the zerks on the parts and actually greased them.

Thanks,it's clear now...it was too dang cold that day, good news is the wife doesn't mind to stop and look at them now,

She even says she would prefer a dognose instead of a flat nose...baby steps
