Re: what kind of bus

my wife and I are thinking of buying a school bus to live in, wondered about the international chassis with a Genesis body DT466 engine in the front 84 pax flat front, if anybody knows what kind of engine access on this bus, or anything else that might be helpful. thank you for your time.

Re: what kind of bus

My bus is an AmTran/Genesis body on an IHC chassis. It hasn't fallen apart yet, after two years of full-timing. I'll further qualify that statement by saying my only experience with school buses (other than being a passenger, 30 years ago) is with this one. You can also lurk at the School Bus Fleet forums to see what the pros have to say.

Re: what kind of bus

Just for fun, the DT466 is the same exact engine being used in the model 1470 IH combines. That might prove how much abuse they can handle. Especially on our rough terrain, steep rolling hills, dust, chaff, running 12+ hours per day. Sure you've got to be on top of your maintennance, but they'll take an amazing beating! I'd like to get an old IH combine to turn it into a big moving party deck!
