What size alternator do I have? 1996 intl./Amtran

Does anyone know what size alternator I have in my T444E 1996 intl./Amtran shortbus? How do I find out?

Look on the alternator. There should be an identifying tag. Mine clearly says my alternators output, but if yours doesn't atleast get the numbers and post them up here or call your local MDT parts house and I'm sure they will be able to help you out.

is it a giant leece neville alternator? these tend to be most common that i've seen on buses and big trucks. they are massive compared to a regular automotive alternator.



they all tend to look the same to me, but come in different amperage ratings. some as low as 105 amps, and some as high as 300 amps.

mine was a lower amperage alternaotr. when i had it rebuilt it was upgraded to a 190 amp unit. That's a lot of amps!

You can buy reman Leece Neville 200 amp alternators, with three stage regulators for $95 on the e place.

if you do have that leese neville known as the triple nickel 555 in the part number there is a delco replacement 130 or 150 amps brand new not reman in the 160 180 dollars range up here in canada found to be a better alternator and new no core lots o problems with those other one i recomend the delco i am 3 into them on my trucks no problems
