Whats that fluid in the heater

Took my heater out the other day. does anybody know what kind of liquid that is? is it the engine coolant? should I replace the engine coolant that i kept from the heater? (really messy stuff).
I live in AZ and don't see using a heater. plus if I need one I will use the AC units.
Thanks!
Brendan

Re: Whats that fluid in the heater

I had all the valves shut off on the heater. there was one valve running from the engine to the cabin. I turned that off aswell. (think that was the airbrakes).
The coolant looks real dirty I think I will just add new stuff to it. Any recommends on coolant? ( I have some 50/50 mix stuff but not sure what the bus requires).

thanks,

You might want to have someone explain some of the systems before you hurt yourself or someone else. If you are not familiar with your brake system, you should not be driving that bus. Last thing you want is to drive up someone's ass with a 20,000 pound bus because your brakes are not working properly. Air brakes are completely different than what you have in your car. Maybe you can stop by a school bus yard and one of the mechanics will give you a quick rundown if you ask nicely.
