Re: Where to buy a school bus in CA?

Welcome Miles! Good luck in your skoolie hunt. I found my short bus off of Craigslist - http://www.craigslist.com

I've also heard good things about Patrick Young, a guy down in Fresno. Here's a website of his, which should have his contact info.: http://www.fresnoalliance.com/wheelchairproject/

I have never met him, or seen his busses for sale, etc. I've just heard that he's quite knowledgeable and always has a few busses for sale.

Keep checking out this site, too. The people on here have been extremely helpful.

Cheers,
-Nathan

We live in Arizona. We found ours on e-bay and had to pick it up @ Anaheim School District transportation department.

We got a great deal and there always seem to be busses available on e-bay.

Re: Where to buy a school bus in CA?

Patrick Young is the go to guy in Fresno for Crown and Gillig school busses. I own a crown, and cant say that I would want anything else.

I would also keep my eyes on this site:
http://www.interschola.com/auctions.php ... ories_id=3

They have Crowns an Gilligs up for auction every now and then as well as other busses.

The very best source is the local School Districts. Next, contractors like First Student. First Student lists their inventory on their web site -- just google it.

Re: Where to buy a school bus in CA?

Well, I'm definitely no expert. But I agree that the first one is a sound type of bus -- Blue Bird with Cummins.

New tires? Brand new? Or just new to him, better than the previous ones?

A/C? Definitely worth something. Again, verify that they work well.

The second ad has expired, so I cannot say anything about that one.

Overheating in the mountains is more a question of the condition of the specific bus' cooling system than the brand or other general criteria. (That said, some people worry about engine cooling on rear engine buses -- because there is no head-on air flow into the radiator.) My Millicent is a longer version of that BlueBird on Craigslist, and Millicent seems immune to overheating so far.

Try Certified Transportation, in Santa Ana. They have well maintained buses and they are reasonable. I bought my Crown there and I was very satisfied with the product. The person to talk to is Eric, who is also on the CrownCoachJunkies, on yahoo.

Also, I think someone mentioned Patrick in Fresno. He has a good fleet and backs his product.
