Re: Where to get cheap batteries?

I got a used semi truck battery from a big truck salvage yard near my house for $35 it's about 1.5 times bigger than a car battery - 12volt, I think 1000cca.

Not sure about where to look for a 6volt battery... come to think of it, this isn't a deep cycle battery either. But it is a place to get a cheap battery!

Re: Where to get cheap batteries?

I just replace 2 of my WalMart batteries last week - they were 3 years old.
115 AH, 61 bucks each - don't know if that's what you mean by cheap.
The other 4 are about 2 years old and seem to be doing fine, so I'm satisfied with how long they last. I'm fulltime off grid so they get pretty heavy use.

Yeah I bought 2 wal mart batteries and I have trouble cranking when it's cold. Go with good batteries

If you bought two honest deep cycle or golf cart batteries (as the thread was about) you will have trouble cranking, they have tremendous capacity but low power, they can't release their capacity quickly enough to be starting batteries, without several in parallel, the walmart golf cart batteries seem to get surprising good reviews by the folks doing homebuilt electric cars, not as long lived as trojans but comparable in a cost/mile comparison
