Window (safety glass) in the front cap?

Hey Everyone,

I was fiddling around with some general design ideas (daydreaming) and had a thought.

When the right bus finds me I expect that there will be a roof raising in order. I was pondering the front cap and the thought of an arched safety glass window occurred to me.

Anyone tried this? What kind of issues/success did you encounter?

Thanks

Steve

You mean a separate window above the windshield or replacing the windshield with an arched variety?

Separate, above the windshield.

Great idea! I've only ever seen it done on coaches. The first thing is having a piece of safety glass cut to size; easy but not cheap. The second would be fabricating a mount. A shop should be able to do that for you. Again, probably not cheap. Then simply install the mounted glass in a pre-framed opening.

It would look wicked cool!

Somebody on here did just that. There are pictures of it on a build thread somewhere... Can't remember which one though, an older thread I think.

I found some places online that will custom cut the laminates safety glass. The size is a bit of an issue with online vendors. I would have to make the window in two pieces.

The glass looks fairly straightforward but I have no clue when it comes to the frame/mounting.

Thanks for the suggestions!
