I am missing two windows from my 1995 International 3800 (Carpenter body). I had been thinking of replacing the windows I don't need as windows with steel plate. Current thinking is not to replace windows but to paint over the outside and glue insulation to the inside rather than spend extra money. The whole reason we use old school busses is because they're cheap.

As I have two missing windows, has anybody any idea what to do with them? I could replace them with sheetmetal or plywood. Alternatively I could get replacement windows but I'm not sure where to go to get them in South Carolina. I certainly don't want to pay a lot nor a lot for shipping.

I have all mine, but am going to panel over them with 16 gauge.
Its a bit pricey, but I'll save and be cheap some other way. I want good sealing, properly working, insulated windows. Just my 2cents

Mine will be sealed with shower sealant and will have insulation glued to the non desired windows and the desired windows will have plexiglass secondary glazing

I'd entertain keeping some of mine but they are pretty shot. no broken or cracked glass but the frames are beat!
And since I have connections for the steel, I'm gonna go that route.
Post some pics when you get on this, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Do you mean that you are going to leave the glass in place and simply panel over them? Why? The windows are relatively easy to remove then you can fill the window hole from the inside with a piece of sheet metal on plywood cut to fit the opening, or sheet over the hole on the outside. Leaving inaccessible glass in the walls seems like a bad idea...

No why on earth would anyone panel over shite windows? I'm going all out on this bus!
Yeah I see lots of inaccessible glass on builds. Sometimes folks are too worried about the decor and what kind of faux wood pattern their floor is...
I'm removing EVERY window, paneling over the sides with 16 gauge, and then installing insulated windows.
I do it right the first time if I can at all help it.

My latest idea is just to tint the windows I want, paint the others black inside and glue insulation foam to them.
