I would be concerned aout any 40 year old vehicle that "needs work", it probably needs every piece of rubber replaced, starting with the master and wheel cylinders, all mechanical seals, engine, trans, axle, u-joints, carrier bearing rubbers, spring/suspension bushings, shocks, etc. then you haave to wonder about the body mounts and weather seals.
the plus side is that it probably has a gas v-8 4 or 5 speed manual trans and 2 speed rear axle.
check it out real close and research parts cost and availability before you jump in
