1970 International Loadstar 1700 Fully Converted

Check out our lovely skoolie.... we will entertain the idea of selling it, asking $8700. The bus could be painted to look sharp, but some people may prefer the funky look it has right now. This is a skoolie done right, with fresh and grey water tanks, option to run off propane or gasoline with a flip of a switch. Main bed area is designed to hold up to a California king sizebed, or it can be two twin beds, leaving a straight walkway in between. Has two spacious stacked bunk style built in beds. Main table in cab area can be converted to full size bed. Kitchen has double sink, upper and lower storage cabinets built. Also has pull out cutting board, raise up food preparation table on back of booth. Built in can opener also installed on cabinets. Bus has bathroom with a deep sink, and flushing toilet and medicine cabinet. Bus also has bookshelf at entrance that needs replacing because of passengers using it to pull themselves up into bus, rather than using the hand rail. Send inquiries to britnich84@gmail. com or call 606-862-1571. Trying to upload pictures but can't.... will update post when I figure out a way to share...

I created a public album on shutterfly There are 31 pictures on there. As you can see by the interior pictures, it has been expertly crafted. That just goes to show you, don't judge a book by its cover. http://brittanyspicturestoshare.shutterfly.com/

The inside of the bus looks nice. If you spent a hundred dollars on house paint and rollers and brushes, and painted it white, you would have a better chance of selling it.

Re: 1970 International Loadstar 1700 Fully Converted

Thanks Accordian, for the advice, but you are probably right. We have another bus that we painted with equipment implement paint from tractor supply. We already had the gun and compressor, so after 3 gallons of paint from TSC and a gallon of thinner, it only cost about $120. I had to use a grinder with a wire brush to get all the house paint off. It was a real pain! I wouldn't recommend using house paint when there is other economical means of getting the job done. After all the grinding for days and days, I still wasn't able to get it all off. Are other bus has been painted about 3 years now, and still looks pretty good, but the little places I missed getting the old paint off is kinda flaked. Do you all think that white will be the best color to paint it? I plan on adding some striping down the sides with some slants, either upwards or downwards, toward the back. What color should I paint the accents?

If anyone is really interested in it make an offer, I won't be offended. You might be suprised. The price isn't too firm, but the more work and money that is put in to it, the harder I will have to stand. Thanks for anyones input!

Re: 1970 International Loadstar 1700 Fully Converted

Wash the bus with TSP (substitute). Use enamel house paint with one quart of Penetrol to one gallon of paint. It makes for a durable shiny surface. Just paint it all white and forget about getting fancy with accent stripes.

You are wanting to sell this bus. There is no need to get too fancy with the paint job. White is an inoffensive color.

As I mentioned, the inside of your bus is very nice. It would present itself much better with a clean simple paint job.

You could perhaps get the job done in one day with rollers and brushes, and perhaps some helpers.

My dad used to buy and sell TV sets many years ago. He told me that the MOST important thing was to clean the units completely before advertising them for sale.

So, My advice is to paint the bus, and completely clean the inside.

Many years ago, you could get real TSP (tri sodium phosphate). It was a caustic cleaning powder that you would mix with water. You had to wear rubber gloves when you applied it to whatever you were cleaning. It worked very well at removing dirt and grime.

Nowadays, there is only TSP substitute, which is not as powerful of a cleaner. It comes in liquid form in a plastic bottle.

Again, in the old days, painters would mix Linseed oil into their oil based paints to make the flow better with a brush or roller. Penetrol is a product that does the same thing. It makes oil based paints go on like water based paints. It comes in a one quart orange can. You mix one quart to one gallon of paint.

Besides making it very easy to paint your bus, it leaves a nice glossy finish.

I have done two vehicles using Penetrol with oil based enamel house paint. I have had very good results. My paint jobs have lasted seven years before any noticeable paint chipping occured.
