1975 Gillig 636 $3500

Selling my '75 Gillig RE. The bus is in Winnemucca, NV, but I will drive it to Reno. 1975 Gillig school bus
She has a rebuilt CAT 3208 that runs great, no start up smoke at all. Roadranger RT610 10 speed, 24.5 tires with great tread. 8ft. full width under belly storage and a smaller storage under the drivers seat; this is the spare compartment, I had planned on using it for a generator slide out. The bus currently has bunks for ten, and an open rear living area. Tow hitch is installed. I have 2 35 gal. waste tanks, a new never used tall RV toilet, a 3 burner RV stove/oven that needs a little re-hab work, all goes with the bus. This was going to be the "retirement" bus to replace my '80 that goes to Burningman and is full of dust, but I have too many other things more pressing. Gillig's are the best Skoolies ever built- better than a Crown! Crowns are more cramped for the driver, and are known to break at the aluminum-steel interface on rough roads. This will never happen on this bus. This bus has excellent ground clearance, perfect for someone looking to go down the road less traveled. This bus is in excellent shape mechanically and physically. For $250 I'll throw in a never installed 29 gal LP tank, $150 for a lightly used RV furnace.

Great bus at a very reasonable price.

It is worth the price just for the tires and the paint job.

My Gillig

EastCoastCB, I already have a serious buyer in Reno; remember even Johnny Cash has been to Winnemucca:
"I was totin' my pack along the dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
a few pics...

Everywhere Man!

Workin' on it EastCoast! Still need Alaska, Rhode Island (might have been there as a baby??) and Maine. Back in '81 I was 15 miles from the Maine border, but didn't cross over. Damn! Wasn't actively working on all 50 at that time. Oh and Canada and the rest of the world except Mexico...

Just wanted to let you know that Im really interested in this bus and have the cash now. I live in Denver, but could easily fly out and meet you in Reno!
Been thinking about this bus a lot and it's time to make a move on it.

Wow, what a great looking old bus in great shape.

I just love how simple that engine looks.

I knew there were better buses than crowns.

to many years ago I drove a truck with that same engine transmission combo, I am not going to lie to you about it; I really loved that truck. I could run all day at 55 to 57 MPH up hill down hill what ever, it was not at the elevation you are in Denver but it was in the Limon colorado area so close.
I am rooting for you!
