The bus- 1985 Ford Carpenter with new gas engine (429 4v v
. Prior to us the bus was owned by a Catholic school who kept excellent records for the life of the bus. They replaced the engine about 30,000 miles ago. New tires. Passed CA smog test and is currently registered as a motorhome. Exterior is painted a neutral off white. Prior to our ownership the bus was stored in a garage so is in great condition.
The plan- We bought it to convert into a RV to live in as campground hosts. Close to the end of the conversion we found out we didn't get the host position! So the bus has been stored in a very nice friend's driveway, as we now live in Berkeley CA- where things are a bit tight. We'd love to keep this baby as we spent so much time on it, but we are hoping to buy a house and would like the $ to help with a down payment.
The Conversion- It's beautiful and set up to be lived in! Laminate flooring, queen bed, tile shower, lots of storage space, cabinets, breakfast bar, tasteful neutral color scheme, sleeps 4- 2 on queen 2 on futon (leather futon with built in storage), nice gas range running on propane, 20 amp and 30 amp systems, shore power, 2000 watt power inverter, 3 battery bank, 10 gallon hot water tank for bathroom, 4 gallon hot water tank for kitchen, 30 gallon fresh water tank, 30 gallon gray water tank and 30 gallon black water tank (we have extra tanks too if desired), all tanks mounted with steel and bolts to frame. We have a flier and lots and lots of pictures. This is ready to go on the road or could easily be used as a spare studio for guests/ inlaws. The only things missing is AC (bus came from SF where there is no need for AC and we were planning on getting a window unit), heat (we were planning on using space heaters) and kitchen gadgets (microwave, toaster etc). Or if someone was looking for something to trick out even further and raise the roof or something!
If you know anyone who may be interested we'd be happy to email you a flier to pass around! Please email or call with questions. Bus is located in Walnut Creek, CA- about 45 min east from San Francisco.
