Smile 1988 Blue Bird School Bus - $4000

Selling our 1988 Blue Bird All American School Bus 3809-3903 with an asking price of $4000.

She is a 40 foot beauty with only 24,390 miles on the odometer. You can see in the photo's that it has room for the extra digit, but the bus is too straight, too clean and just in way too good of shape to be over a million! Her engine starts extremely well and runs strong, its a Caterpillar 3208TA (V8, 10.4L/636 CID)and its surprisingly quite. The engine is in the rear (Diesel Pusher) and coupled to an automatic transmission, making her extremely easy to drive. She has Air Brakes and a GVWR of "over 33,000 lbs"; so its a serious bus for serious owners. The dual rear 11R22.5 wheels provide an exceptionally stable platform for a large variety of needs, hauling people being just one of the possibilities. And the driver gets a bit of love to with an Air Ride seat.

She would make a great school, youth group, scouting, skoolie, RV Conversion or toy hauler project. If you want to come over and take a look, feel free to give us a call and we can set something up!

Also, we travel a lot for work and could deliver to you for a reasonable fee, which means you don't have to be limited to living in the Pacific Northwest if you are interested! You can text or call Sterling at 503-307-2401 for more information, or email sterling.fiock@intersectvideo.com

I am currently in the market so I am very interested. Can you tell me if it is currently registered and in service in some capacity or has it been sitting for a while? Engine braking or other brake retarder?

Hello Jake_Blue,

It is not currently registered and has been sitting for a bit. I personally don't think exceedingly long. Since it starts so well, and is very smooth to drive, I think it has been relaxing a few months, instead of years behind some shed.

I don't see any evidence of Engine Braking or Retarding system. I am familiar with Jake Brakes on the cylinder heads and don't see anything similar.

I did notice the Battery charger built onto the bus while confirming the lack of Engine Braking. It has a male plug on the rear bumper allowing for continuous charging, pretty standard but a nice extra to have.

That's probably an engine block heater not a charger but that is good to know

It has the engine block heater as well.
This is pretty clearly labeled "Battery Charger", so unless someone is playing an elaborate hoax I am going to trust it.

Jake,

Are you interested enough to consider a purchase? We travel a lot for business and may be able to deliver for a small fee. I'd like to see this bus sell, and it is taking up real estate in our parking area. You can reach me direct at 503-307-2401.

I am interested but it will take me a few weeks to get around to the Portland area to take a look at it. Right now I am heading back home to Indiana for the holiday so it would just be a matter of next time I can get a dispatch to the West Coast.
