1989 BlueBird

I found this one on CL...... Sure lookd good, clean and all....But the 60,000 miles is hard for me to believe. Plus no service records available.
Makes one wonder ?????????

Don't know, didn't think to ask...... I'll call them again tomorrow.......
The guy had 8 buses the first time I found this add, now down to 3 and this one still there.... miles to good to be true?
If it's so grand one would think it'd be gone by now.... been like 2 months

Re: 1989 BlueBird

5.9 I assume? Heck, it looks nice from this chair, to me. Wonder if the DOT inspection would yield any info? Not sure what inspections are like in GA. I know in NY state, if one passes inspection, it has to be in excellent shape! They used to tag it out of service if a seat was ripped.

Re: 1989 BlueBird

It's about 300 miles or so to Altanta, Ga from here, long drive just to look but I guess thats the only way to see it.
Yes, 5.9 Cummins Alison 4 speed, They (on the phone) could not tell me if it was a m463 or what, I'll need to look at it when I get down there.
I don't think Ga DOT inspection is like NY, nothing much here in the south is as strict as the northern states...

This is the first bus I found that I was interested in and seems I always end up back here after searching the internet....
Hummmm????

Re: 1989 BlueBird

Heck, I do 300 miles just to go to the mall and back.

More than likely its a 545. Should be good for 12mpg I would think.

It seems the south is the place to buy them. More expensive up here, but with that you get all the bigger engines, heavy heaters, Webastos, auto chains, retarders, etc. A 5.9 would be great here....til you came to the first mountain pass.

Re: 1989 BlueBird

Thanks for the info.........
I called today and they (the bus owners) are not very helpful or loose with any info they have.....R R R ...... they're even less smart than I which is very dangerous.
Just came up short of calling them stupid on the phone.
How many hours on the bus? unk ...Please check the hour meter, nope, sorry...can't do that.
They don't know which trans model it is, and they cannot look and tell me.
Inside height unknown, and no we cannot measure.....
No service records available, and NO we cannot trace it back to the previous owners ie school district and / or maintenance shop.
Where did the bus come from..... we bought it.
Guess they'll keep the darn thing too....

I hate showing my own stupity, but even more I hate talking to someone dumb sob that won't even try...
All they know or will tell me is quote (it's a big yellow bus) unquote.

Nice. Gotta love when someone is unwilling to even try. Government employee, perhaps? <- no offense intended to any in present company who actually works for the gov't.

Awww...all that and you didnt get to call them stupid. What a shame. Let them keep it! I would call them back and tell them you made a decision. Due to their ineptness, you have decided to forgo the thing. I'd even move up the chain of command. I have no tolerance for stupid people.
