You go right ahead and do that. I'll back you up. That's what I did with my wife. Now I don't have a wife anymore.

i'll sell it for $3500. i'll be keeping the generator, inverter, fridge, guages, and stereo though. i will say if someone was to make me a serious cash offer, they might be surprised. i have my new rig, and this is just sitting.

Re: 1991 Blue Bird TC2000

Hey mate I'm pretty serious about this and cash is available.

However I am new to the "SKOOLIE" game just found you guys GREAT site.
I have made a decision to quit and travel the USA. I'm not a virgin to adventure but the RV trail is new, been living on my boat past several years and beers.
I have already been looking and researching and these are some of my concerns:

Towing a compact Car (possible?) as I need to earn along my way
MPG (not a biggy but has to be considered)
Is it already regsitered as RV (VIN etc)
Can you send some photos your ad expired on CL
Why r u upgrading ?
R u in NC?? I am in Norfolk VA
Any major mechanical concerns on long distance travel? I know I have to change the oil

BTW did I mention I am serious, I also have some land down in NC where I can store her.

Having done enough on boats I have genny and all other resources so take what you need and work with me

Cheers

Re: 1991 Blue Bird TC2000

Al,

Sounds like this could be your bus. It has the 5.9 cummins which is by far the most common of the diesel bus engines as it is also used in a few trillion dodge pickups. This makes parts/repairs more affordable. This bus has a few other things going for it. I think it is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small, especially for a single person or couple. Looks to be around 30 ft? And since you are used to living aboard a boat, you will have more room than you will know what to do with. I suspect that better than 10 mpg with this rig should be quite doable given it's size/drivetrain. That's pretty good for a bus.

The biggest thing this bus has going for it is it's windowless from the factory which means you can install them where you want and you won't have to worry about skinning over existing ones. This can be made into a very clean looking RV which doesn't scream out "I USED TO BE A SCHOOL BUS!!!!!".

Another plus is, it's right down the road from lovely nawfuk. I lived there for 4+ years while in the Navy.

Get out of there before winter sets in. It is cold wet and miserable. But, then again, being a limey, you're probably used to that!

Well, good luck, mate. Having spent time on boats, I assume you are familiar with their systems. If so, you should have no trouble working with RV systems which are quite similar.

And if you do get it, fix it up nice and come visit me in Connecticut. I'll buy you a pint! I gotta show the wife a well done skoolie. Maybe she'll let me get one, then.

As for towing a dingy, no problem. You could drag a small car, or a bigger one, for that matter and not even know it was there.

Good Luck

Re: 1991 Blue Bird TC2000

Heyup Pete
Thanks for the advice and I am trying to reach this fella.

As for future plans Conneticut was a port of call .. so I'll buy you a pint !, you buy me one and we''ll share a few more then after.

I have to stick one more piss ass winter here, but it is warmer than Sheffield UK

Nawfuk ... now ya know why I wanna leave the place. I think every girl I've hung with here should have stayed at the zoo hehehehehe.
It's me, my black lab, a future black bus for now ...

I love the road, so I'm buzzing the idea, but I have sell up (2 boats, 1 power 1 sail to help fund the trip) but I have money to get the spaceship ready ..

Cheers mate

You're right, it SCREAMS "HERE COMES THE SWAT TEAM!!!". Just don't try to score drugs in it.

Re: 1991 Blue Bird TC2000

It's actually a cool looking bus. It even has roo bars. No windows is a plus. I can't imagine how much time you would save by not having to skin it yourself. I've had two 5.9's in pickups, I love them. I don't know if I would feel the same way in a bus. He says he's open to reasonable offers. Who knows, you might get a really good bus for a fair price. In my opinion, I would pay a little more for a bus if it had things that I wanted or didn't want (like rust). Good luck.

no, it's a 1998 international truck that's been converted to a toterhome. pic:

yes, easily. i have towed as much as 14k with it and it's done well. a compact car would be nothing.

Quote:
MPG (not a biggy but has to be considered)
empty, it gets close to 14 or so. towing it gets 8-10 depending on the load. these aren't exact calculations as the odometer quit working shortly after i bought it, but they're close.

Quote:

yes.

i thought i posted a link somewhere in here, but here it is again anyway just in case:

Quote:
Why r u upgrading ?
two reasons. 1. i recently bought a 2 car hauler and need something with a little more power to pull it 2. i just didn't have the time i thought i would to do a full conversion. it made more sense to buy something complete and sell this.

Quote:
R u in NC?? I am in Norfolk VA
yes, raleigh nc. i'll be going to D.C. this friday. if you decide you want it, we could work out meeting somewhere.

Quote:
Any major mechanical concerns on long distance travel? I know I have to change the oil
not at all. i'd drive it across the state tomorrow. it does need some tlc cosmetically in a few spots, but nothing major or that affects driving it. i can list the things if you'd like. i had it completely checked over by a truck shop when i bought it, and all the mechanicals were in great shape.

Quote:
Having done enough on boats I have genny and all other resources so take what you need and work with me
that's fine. like i said, i'll be more than happy to work on the price if i keep some of the stuff that's in it. drop me a pm or email to icsealey@yahoo.com and we can discuss further if you'd like.

Re: 1991 Blue Bird TC2000

Nice Truck! Post pics of its inside. Looks like you might just get it sold after all. Good luck to both of you!

It is a pretty bus. I would have to paint it though. Black shows all flaws. Even the best bus has them.
