1996 BlueBird GMC W7000 (Caterpillar 3116) diesel engine with Eaton mid-range manual 5 speed transmission, model FS4205B. This 6-cylinder engine / transmission combo is solid. Just had it serviced in June 2019 before the move from Washington state to Nebraska - lube, oil and oil filter changed, engine air filter and fuel filter changed, brake bleed, new master cylinder, and new caliper on rear axle.
Two heavy duty commercial batteries, Group Size 31T, 1000 CCA brand new - installed October 2019.
No fluid leaks at all. Mileage is 182,770. 10-12 MPG
The bus runs great at 65-70 mph on the interstate and handles mountains with no problems. Navigated up and down the Oregon Cascades and coastal mountains smoothly with no hesitation. Trippy is powerful and SO fun to drive. The bus has power assist electric brakes (no air brakes). Parking brake is unreliable, so always park her in 2nd gear to be on the safe side.
Tires are all good - not new, but not much warn either. Tread is very good, no cracks or dry rot. Minimal surface rust only, no heavy rust or corrosion. Bonus: she has cruise control.
All lights (interior and exterior) are in good, working condition.
27 feet long, not counting the 4 foot back porch - so about 31 feet in all. Inside width is 7.5 feet, outside width including side mirrors is 9.5 feet. Overall clearance with deck and stove pipe is 11.5 feet high.
Seven windows on passenger side, eight windows on driver's side, inside standing height is 72" mid-bus. Approx weight is 20,000 lbs.
The bus has had all the seats removed, subflooring has foam board insulation, walls and ceiling have fiberglass insulation.
Open floor plan makes the mid-sized bus feel spacious rather than claustrophobic, but I often hang curtains on a tension rod or magnetic hooks to create privacy "rooms" / separate spaces. Curtains also double as screen for projector.
Custom built bed frame slides in to convert futon mattress from bed to couch - extra storage underneath. Desk/counter at the front of the bus includes shelves which house the sound system amp, 2 12V solar powered batteries, power inverter, two 12V power sockets, plus extra storage.
Small dining / card table can be removed and stored when driving or not in use. Swivel passenger seat includes seatbelt.
The "kitchen" area consists of a storage shelf over a countertop with AC power strip which uses either solar or shore power. 48 quart K-box electric cooler, 5 gallon Igloo thermos for drinking water, 2 burner propane stove, Farberware instant pot, electric skillet, electric water kettle, fruit / veggie basket, plus several storage containers to hold dishes, dry food, etc. Also above the kitchen area are simple mounts to hold two fishing rods.
Clothing / personal items storage area at the rear of the bus consists of a mounted four drawer dresser as well as a clothing rack which is mounted to a heavy board to prevent it from tipping over when bus is in motion. There is a storage space behind the dresser to store table top, folding chairs, solar panel covers, broom, vacuum, etc.
The "bathroom" area is curtained to conceal a Golden Throne. Just kidding! It's a regular commode, which is simple and economical - commode liners make waste disposal easy and discreet. Storage basket over commode holds towels, toilet paper, etc.
There are two options for running water for dishwashing and showering - both are easy to operate. Best option is a battery-powered (USB) portable showerhead that pumps water from a bucket for a steady stream. There is also a "camp-shower" water pump / spray which is operated by hand pumping - works great without electricity. Deep bucket and shower curtain which hangs from the ceiling for inside showering, or else use the pop up showering tent out on the back porch.
All rugs pictured are included, lightweight vacuum is included.
There is a small wood stove which works great to heat the bus (large axe is included), but there's also an electric utility heater (when you have shore power), and a propane tanktop heater, so lots of heating options, just depends on your needs and available fuel source. Five gallon propane tank is included.
Custom blackout curtains are magnetic, so no messy adhesive from Velcro to contend with. There's also lightweight nylon netting cut to fit most of the windows and the back door which are held in place by magnets to serve as "screens" to keep out the flies and mosquitoes when the windows are open.
The curtains are designed to be super simple to change the fabric if you want to redo the interior decor for cheap. Also, all wall decor and "bling" are magnetic, so easily removable. There is also a small can of paint (Rustoleum "Periwinkle") and some brushes for interior touch ups.
We installed a fairly expensive sound system which includes a Planet Audio AC1800.5 5 Channel Car Amplifier, with a JVC CD/MP3 AM/FM Radio Player Car Receiver, BOSS Audio Systems CXX12 Car Subwoofer with 1000 Watts Maximum Power, four 250 Watt power acoustic tweeters, four Boss 300 Watt speakers, two Pyle Hydra 200 Watt minibox speakers, plus a Nulaxy Bluetooth adapter which allows the incredible sound system to connect via any mobile device. The ability to blast all the best jams coupled with LED color-changing strip lights makes it the best party bus / tailgating rig ever.
There is a Cen-Tech power inverter (12 V input / 115 V/60 Hz output) with 750 watt continuous/1500 watt peak power.
Camecho 7" Night Vision Rear View/Backup Camera, Garmin Bluetooth GPS Navigator, and 1080P Dash Cam installed.
Safety features include smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit / supplies, heavy duty D-lock for front doors when outside (front doors cannot be opened from the outside when fully closed from inside), metal bar keeps driver's window from being pried open, for the rear door emergency exit, there is a U-lock on the metal handle which slides over the lock bar preventing it from being opened from the outside, simply slide the lock to release the bar for quick / easy escape from the inside. When Trippy is all closed up from the inside, you may still not survive the Zombie apocalypse, but your chances will be significantly better than most.
The unassuming exterior has been painted white. There's a small porch on the back end with a ladder to the wooden deck on top and a mounted Craftsman storage unit to hold tools and equipment. Window AC is also strapped onto back porch, as well as a 6' x 4' personal canopy.
No roof leaks at all.
There are two Renogy 100 watt 12V monocrystalline solar panels installed with a HQST 30 Amp 12V/24V PWM solar panel regulator charge controller with two 12V batteries connected inside the bus.
There's a heavy duty BADLAND 12000 Lbs. off-road vehicle electric winch with automatic load-holding brake on the front of the bus, as well as a smaller (2500lbs) winch with wireless remote control mounted with a 12V battery on the rooftop/deck for pulling up a small boat/canoe/camping equipment, etc.
Clean title - titled as mobile home in Nebraska. Plated as mobile home in Oregon. Insured through Progressive as mobile home.
