1996 International 3800 444E

I am selling a 35 foot 1996 Thomas School Bus in Minnesota. I bought the bus and started to convert it to a work truck for my electrical service. I started a new job and no longer need the bus. Most of the seats have been removed--there are 6 left in the front. It was recently serviced and runs and drives great.

8 cylinders, 78,000 miles, 7.3 liter turbo diesel, automatic four gear transmission.

Good Tires
Great Engine
Great Service Truck

Asking $5,000.

Cross-posted.

Ryan,

Do you have the means to check the ECM and see what the actual mileage is?

Do you know what transmission is in this bus?

Thank you.

Hello,

We do not have means to check the ECM. However, I do know the background on the bus and the bus' good condition confirms the odometer. Another clue, is the brake pedal. This rubber pedal looks like it has 78,000 miles on it. Moreover, I do know with confidence that the odometer and hour meter parallel the life of the transmission, motor and chassis.

The transmission is a Allison AT-500 Automatic 4-Speed

Hey Ryan,

I wish you the best of luck selling your rig.

$4000 for a rig of that spec with only 78k miles is not a bad deal. The challenge is that it is very unusual to find a school bus of that age with such low mileage.

It is very common to find buses of that age that have had the instrument cluster replaced. That leaves you with a bus with unknown mileage. The computer is a better source of actual mileage.

The uncertainty may explain the limited response to your ad.

Again, best of luck with your sale.

S.
