'82 35ft Crown being retired from fleet service

CHP certified, owned by commercial fleet operator selling his last 1982 35ft 2-axle Detroit 6-71 turbo with RT-910 (non-O.D) approx 70mph rear-end. Excellent condition, and lovingly maintained. It's his baby and usually drives it himself. I've driven this one and see no reason why it can't go another 30 years with regular maintenance. Individuals can't possibly put enough miles on a Crown to compare with how they are used in revenue service where 200 miles a day is low average to make any money. I'm not involved and only spreading the word for him. He's busy running his company, and I was interested in it at one time, so he called me. He's asking $7500, and it's worth every penny, due to drive away and many trouble-free years condition. Much better than most Ebay/Craigslist Cyphers with never revealed rust, mechanical issues etc. You should all know it isn't what you pay for it, it's what you need to make it usable afterwards. That can easily be more than the initial purchase price. You get what you pay for, always.
Contact Frank in So. Cal. at 626-222-8416. He's serious and very fair in his asking price, you should be too. If you really want a Crown this is a very good one at a fair price.

Too bad you're not in SoCal, otherwise you could get your fix of Crowns next month, including my friend Al's ten-speed Detroit - he took the muffler off it just so he could enjoy it better! I love that engine growl at idle. An unmuffled 6-71T is so sweet. I'm toying with the idea of de-mufflering my bus, but it may make it too loud. However, there's a clip of a Mexican 6V92 bus with straight pipes that sounds good when it Jakes, so maybe I'll try it. See, Crown owners have more fun!

OMG I want this bus so bad, been wanting a skoolie for a while, bought a bus two years ago and it became a nightmare, roomie has aggreed to go in for a bus to turn into a living space to allow travel, showed him this and he was like 35ft isnt long enough we need at least 40.....like 5ft is that big of a deal when your talking quality and price!!

I wish I had the manual transmission endorsement on my CDL, I would snap this up. I grew up and work on several farms (2,500 acre) so I would have no problem driving it, but in WI farmers are CDL exempt.

I can't pass up a clarification on the CDL restrictions on manual transmissions. Here in CA. they issue the B license based on the bus used for the driver test. If you take the test in an automatic.....you get the restriction to only automatics. If you take it with a manual transmission.. no restriction. It's simply a reflection of demonstrated competency. All you need to do is go back to DMV (or an authorized agent of) and drive with the manual transmission, which will remove the restriction. This is usually too difficult for fleet drivers due to the buses being owned by the Company. They may not even have anymore sticks in the fleet, and even if they do they, won't spend the money for a driver to get his own personal upgrade. We as bus owners have no such trouble, just take your bus in and take the driving test and demonstrate proficiency, and Bingo, restriction is vaporized. Conceivably you could do this with a Tractor-Trailer combination, if you can get access to one, or you happen to own one yourself, then you can get a real Class A license. Usually for non-commercial driving there isn't much trouble driving a personal bus/RV with a regular car license. Look at all the folks driving around in those $400k Prevosts and such. I'll bet most don't have any kind of CDL, yet there's no problems, even though my old commercial instincts twinge when I see that, realizing those things are sometimes heavier than a fully loaded coach with Pax and bags. P.S. this Crown is still available as of a couple weeks ago, I don't know why, but it is, and it's still a very good catch.

I would be so willing to take that 5ft loss for this bus but roomie will not budge, to me the 5ft isnt significant enough not to go for this beauty, you can tell she was loved and taken care of

yep I agree, feels like he is just agreeing to it to make me happy but has no real interest even though I have proven, that after the initial cost of conversion, the cost of living in it would be cheaper by half of what we pay for rent and upkeep now
