89 bluebird

I have an 89 bluebird 72 passenger bus .. has hot and cold running water, shower outside, decent appliances but the build is rough and Id probably do it over Im happy to sent pics ... it has two 100 watt 12V pannels on the roof and a 20 amp charge controller and a 3KW inverter (not a great inverter but it works)
the trans and brakes are great ... just drove it across country...... the engine burns a bit of oil but runs flawlessly ... I paid $2500 for it almost 5 years ago and put another $2000 into equipment at least and allot of time.....
please PM me if interested ......I just dont really have room for it now

How much, engine, miles, tires? What speed is it geared to go on the highway? Where is it?

Re: 89 bluebird

6BT engine.... 5.9 cummins ....rear tires are great fronts ok but not great... I think about 220Kmi on the bus .... it goes 60mph
Im now in lexington Ky, and I was thinking about $3500? I know I wont get out of it what I have into it....

it is in good mechanical shape but the engine does burn oil.... but like I said runs flawlessly
take care

Re: 89 bluebird

Have you sold the bus yet? My wife and I have our house for sale so we can move to Lexington to be with godkids and we want to live in a bus instead of having a mortgage so we are VERY interested. Is there a way to do private messages on this board.

Re: 89 bluebird

so Ive had a few folks scare off of my bus because of the oil burning....... I think it used 2 gallons of oil across the US which is allot....
I dont want any bad carma over being dishonest for money.... so Im clear with folks who talk with me about it....
I am an ASE certified master mechanic with 32 years in the business.... Im an auto tech not a diesel and truck tech which dosent mean much as far as diagnosing or fixing the bus goes but the shops I work for dont have the space for me to bring it in and look at it.... I havent had time to tear into it and really figure it out... and I havent really wanted to... it does not have excessive blowbye and I did check the play in the bearings in the turbo and it seems fine.... if you let it idle for a long time and take off it blows pretty good oil smoke for a little bit and clears up and dosent seem to smoke excessively when running... ...maybe the oil rings are warn or stuck...it idles smoothe and starts well even cold...which leads me to believe the compression is reasonable... I can get engine rebuild kits with pistons for $500 all day long on ebay....I may just pull the head and pan and do an inframe on it... would take me about 20 hours but at that point I may not want to let it go... I think it would be a good bus for someone who will use it as living space and move it from here to there but maybe not a travel bus unless the oil consumption is straitened out... its been reliable for me Ive put 10,000 miles on it .. maybe more...I trusted it enough to haul all of my stuff across country... and it did a great job..

Im not willing to sell it for less then $3000 ... Ill keep it and fix it up but I thought if someone else needed it more then me that I could use a little dough

I hope that helps anyone thinking about buying it
take care
