The ad closed because a member here bought it. The watermelon truck I'm sure is a farm truck used for hauling produce from the fields. What's not to believe?

That clear roof is starting to grow on me, maybe replace a few roof panels with some Lexan to open up the roomy airy feeling.

There are at least 20-30 near me with everything but the bump up for cab plywood end off for drives are and walls are left below the chair rail for 40 plus feet of flat bed hauling for tobacco farming.
See them everyday on the road at the NC 49 speed during season and at least a few times a month out of season cause a few of my jobs take me past there home base.
A lot cheaper than a tractor -trailer and do the same job without the longer turning radius and the problems of getting a tractor trailer stuck in a wet field cause it's straight and solid with tow hooks factory mounted.
Tractor trailer you have to find a spot to wrap a chain on the trailer and it's usually not a spot that won't muck something up but the best spot is where an in-experienced driver doesn't notice it's messed up until he's on the road?
Experienced you only pull from the hooks on the front of the tractor or they just won't drive/put it where you say you want it and you have to deal with it.
Much rather drag a school bus out of the mud than a tractor trailer? Never had to do a school bus yet but I have had to deal with many a tractor trailer loaded down in and out and tire changes and cleaning going out.

Well I was wondering around the country and as I went through Minnesota this engine started following me home. Funny how that happens. Might just fit the short bus too.

250 HP 6-71 Detroit, with Eaton 5 speed manual trans, radiator and all accessories.

For now will clean it, test run it, and then put it in storage till I am ready. I know it is a little big for the shorty but would make a great pulling bus, and this engine is not much bigger then a DT466 which was an option in this bus.

By the way our purple bus ran great for the trip, and was able to keep pace with the big trucks all the way, even caught myself doing 75 at one point.

Actually thinking of doing the roof like an old train car from 20's. I see this bus as a blank slate....ready for dreams to be built.
