He did say it warm it up without the bus running so you can hop in, cold start and have heater immediately hot. I'll look into how it works more another day because......

We're home!!!!

Ok, so details - dt466e, mt643, 71 psngr. drives great with no issues whole 509 miles home. (Never driven a bus so nothing to really compare to, but seemed fine to me). That air ride seat can get crazy when you hit some construction and I did slam down a couple times and felt like I was gonna go through ceiling too, but I like it. Got that heater they left underneath, also they put diesel in it so I got about 300 free miles! 55mph at 2200, topped at 65mph at 2600.

Issues - tires are 7 yo, but with good tread
The beeping, which at about 100 miles in I noticed was becayse of trans temp gauge. The gauge below it also has intermittent light and the oil psi directly to right has intermittent light, so I believe these all to be connection issues in the cluster as its the bottom left of cluster that has problems (mechanics hitting it maybe? Idiots..)
Cig light was inop so I had to run a ground and put a fuse back in
Not so great rust above one rear wheel....yep, it's through metal. Some bubbling paint around edge as well. Just the one wheel though from what i saw. Surprisingly, underneath looks pretty darn good for a 20 yo old. Slight surface rust on some of itn but probably 80% less than I expected.

Also, it was another trip that provides more evidence that school buses are invisible. 10 cops seen on the trip, one was on side and behind me ( no plate) and then passed me.

I'm sure I left some stuff out but yeah, long day. Glad to get home safe and in one piece. I bought it sight unseen, and so far it's seeming like I did alright considering I bought it only knowing it had dt466. Coulda been worse

When you call international ask for your line set ticket, not just about the transmission. It will tell you EVERYTHING about the bus. It's AMAZING.

Glad you got there and back safely bud! Don’t feel too bad about the rust. Mine has a lot of rust, I’m guessing because it originated from Houston before it got to east Texas.

What's the red limit on that motor? My t444e tops at 2600 and was electronically limited to 65. Christopher reprogrammed my speed limit to 70 even though I can't hit it on flat ground before redline..

Same limit, 65 at 2600.

Looking for another storage lot, the bumper on it adds a foot so its 38' and the place I had lined up wouldn't work. Dang it

Not sure what I'll do with that heater yet, b7t do think it's funny that they weren't supposed to leave it on, and I could actually remove it and sell it and get all my money back. Only about $2550 total price including getting it home. 2047 for the bus

Edit - my motor doesn't have anything on it with any numbers. How can find out hp rating? Also the gears?

Looks like my floors are rubber on steel, no plywood

Mine has a tag on the valve cover. I would expect your to be similar. I'm sure you can ask international though!

Only sticker on top says remanufactured engine....bunch of words, engine model year 1996

Do I need to worry about that remanufactured? Or does that mean it's been rebuilt

That means it’s rebuilt. Probably even better for you. Possibly less mileage on the engine than the odometer states

JJ,

Nicely done and great buy! Sounds like you're going to have fun converting. Once you get some weight from the build on her she should handle much better with a load on the springs.

Have fun!

Here she is in her new home. Gonna go back out in a little bi5 to measure interior and wheel wells to start on a floor plan, and get more pictures. Maybe try and check out the gauge cluster as well.

Any reccomendations for a fairly inexpensive generator that will be able to the tools needed? Never used a generator before. Or reccomendations for a generator that can be used now and in future as permanent generator

Edit - I was thinking something like this. My biggest tools will be miter saw and table saw most likely.

Call international with the last 8 of your VIN and ask for your "line set ticket". That is ALL of the original info on your bus. EVERYTHING. Mine local dealer emailed it to me. Print out a copy to keep in the bus because it has part numbers so you can order replacements.

Who needs a generator when your bus has an on-board air compressor!

Last time I checked they didn't make miter saws and tables saws that worked on air.

I'm a fan of the Honda & Yamaha inverter gennies. Both are incredibly quiet, very fuel efficient and come in several outputs. Love my EU3000. And there are now dual & tri fuel kits avail for the Hondas.

So what do I for that alarm after I remove the swingarm? Lol

I disconnected the wire running from buzzer terminal to the unit and the noise stopped, bus starts just fine. Not sure if that messes with anything else though

lol Tango ...

He said "fairly inexpensive" and you just quoted the two most expensive

That said, any of the cheaper clones from WEN, Westinghouse, Champion, etc, will be a fraction of the cost and work very well.

A 2000 to 2200 Peak, 1600-1800 Run will mangage all your tools and be useful and quiet when you have an RV at the end.
