Just getting back... wow, it has been non stop!

And I just sent the man from eBay an email apologizing for not calling him after I emailed him twice that I was about to call him! He must think, I’m a crazy person!

Look above, the email, your buddy sent to you. [moderator edit]

Hey, just in case I neglected to thank you..... here’s a big THANK YOUUUUU..!!

And as to the email you sent on June 8... after I eat my pizza and get out of the shower, I will go and search for it.

Des;

If you're still interested, let Matt and I know. We'll set it up for him to get the work done and let you figure out the timing on your end to get Mac.

Happy Father’s Day to you and anyone who is a daddy, or a dad and is following the Big Mac saga on this forum.

I would love nothing more than to adopt your 30’ Big Mac. However, I don’t know if I should pay much attention to my stupidity when it comes to buses, engines, transmissions, fuel tanks, cables, wires, pumps, and a thousand other parts.

Or, if I should instead, just pay attention to my ignorance surpassing my stupidity.

As I think of Big Mac being stationary for two years, and gone through so many stormy nights and heat drenching days, I can’t help but to think of the amount of rust and algae in the fuel tank and fuel lines.

I also, can’t help but to think of the fuel pump injector locking up after sitting for such a long time... and yes, all the other injectors, and pigtails too! (“Pugtails???” Yeah, that’s exactly what I said, kid you not!)

And so, as my ignorance keeps surpassing my tailored idiocy, I can’t help but to think of all the cracked rubber seals, valves, camshafts, cylinders, diesel oil cooler, batteries, head gaskets, and of course tires too.

And those are just some of the things I personally, can think about. Can you imagine, the things, I don’t even know exist.. pooofff, mind blowing!!

To make Big Mac roadworthy, it’s going to take a lot of money or a person who knows what she or he is doing and will not have to pay retail for the work.

Even if some of those parts may be very inexpensive, like a head gasket, labor could range between, $1,000 to $2,000... and that’s a big ooouuch!

So between all the mechanics, and the logistics involved -getting to Texas, then to South Dakota and then to North Carolina for the interior rehab- my mind is telling me to see all the “complicated roadblocks,” the “unpaved and crater filled highways” and the many “hiccup contractions” that my vocal chords may not be able to handle.

So, no matter how much I may want to go forward with Big Mac, I know, I’m not the right owner for him. After all, he’s half my age, and at this point in my life, perhaps I should go for a much... much younger lad!

Thank you for all your help, and all the time you spent giving me a crash course in Mechanics: Big Mac 101...!!!

Again, my best wishes go to you for a wonderful and happy Father’s Day!

With ANY used school bus something is possibly going to break or need repair.
Since you're going to pay top dollar for repair by someone else that's why I suggest you get a premium bus and skip the used school bus route as its more for the DIY-er and not for the timid.

Yes, I totally understand things will break... and me “timid” oh no, u got me all wrong.

The operative word is, PETRIFIED !

And a premium bus, like a new one? OMG.. !!! Way, way outside my budget!

I thought maybe like you said a while back, 2007 or under... no air brakes though!

Any vehicle you buy will need the hood opened and checked, more so on a bus.
Don't be petrified or intimidated, you can work thru this.

After all the price is right. That thing will fire up and get you where you are going and you will be well on your way to living your dreams.
We can only offer advice. Everyone's knowledge of mechanics and electricity varies but this not rocket science.
Go out today and buy some coveralls girl and get the show on the road so to speak.

Good luck Des,

John

So wait, are you saying my ignorance surpassing my tailored stupidity of this craft is worse than I thought. And I should just close my eyes and jump into the crater?

Of course yes, jump when I say "JUMP!"

I think you have already graduated from a gas pump, move up to pumping diesel. No life like it!
If we can do this, you can too. It's just a whole lot of decisions to make owning a bus or anything really.

Hahaha... perhaps I should translate... I have never pumped gas into a car, moving vehicle, or anything bigger than a small power washer!

Hey, did you know, Queen Elizabeth was a car mechanic during the war? I have a book with pictures of her working on cars. And she surely looked like she new what she was doing... her brother on the other hand, maybe not so much!

Or perhaps he did!

There was an older brother, they just didn't like to talk about him.
Those were stuffier times, and he was a confirmed transvestite.

Naturally, it simply wouldn't do, having a king who was a Queen...

No, it never happened. I was just engaging in a spot of frolicsome foolishness.

The post facto ellipses are typically indicative of a certain lack of veracity
