I should add to this that I've knocked around a dozen lugs off of various buses, not just the 2 I show in my video. People regularly ask me to demonstrate on their bus.

I don't know about your bus, but the MCI Lugnuts are torqued to 450.


I have a couple of 1/2 inch Air impact guns, an old Craftsmen and a newer Earthquake, Both will loosen most anything, but not MCI lugnuts.

Maybe Marc's lugs are over the torque rating of the tool.
Or- like the pneumatic riveters- maybe there's a huge variance in quality from tool to tool.

I got burned buying a mulitmeter with tach from HF a couple months ago. They don't take returns on them specifically and the one I got doesn't work worth a shite.

This is why my dream someday is to own a shop on >10 acres. Enough space to park a full size bus indoors + a fully stocked shop with 240V power.

The bus mechanics at my work can have a tire off in under a minute. Those big air impact wrenches will blast the lug nuts off in .2 seconds

Must be in a different thread, I mentioned the guy at the parts store saying the left side would be LHT, they are not on my bus and I've never heard it mentioned here.

LH thread is some ol' school sh!t
My '54 Willys Wagon has them on the driver's side -- back then it was still thought the lug nutz might loosen cause the driver side wheels rotate CCW...

But my studs are stamped with an L and the lug nuts have triangle markings to distinguish them from the RH side.

18 year old me had bought a 1968 Plymouth Fury 3 with left hand thread lugs on one side. I destroyed like 6 lug studs before I figured it out. Not the brightest crayon in the box.

Yeah my buddy's is a 66 Ford school bus. I think the body is a Superior or one of those old school brands.

I learned the hard way on a Plymouth on a hot day. Was wearing myself out on the impact and couldn't for the life of me why the right sides zipped right off and these won't budge. When he finally told me they were LHT, zip,zip,zip. It's a good thing I didn't get out the breaker bar, Lord knows how many studs I would have sheared. Lesson learned. Then there was the time I learned about interferance fit lug nuts. Another hot day, G30 8 lug flat tire. No impact, just a cross iron. Why are these so tight, they all feel cross threaded. Whooped my ass taking 8 lugs off. Then I learned they were suppose to be like that.
