Bus for sale

Zillah, Wa - Ready for conversion. A 1983 Blue Bird diesel pusher school bus. 3208 Powerbilt 225hp diesel engine. 12 rows of seats. Runs good and everything works. This bus was just decommissioned after the 2016-2017 school year. Bought it in a local School District auction and I have the clear title. Asking $4500, but the price is negotiable. I can't tell you, but I do see it doesn't have a backup camera.

Thanks, Rusty!

While we're at it with the dumb questions, what's that louvered dweebish growing out of the roof above the rearmost passenger side window?

That's a fan for the cool kids who sit in the back and the fan blows the smoke out of the bus.

Pretty helpful, aren't I?

Looks like a mechanical Cat engine 3208 225 HP Would be a very good road vehicle. Check the rust underneath, get the VIN and I can tell more.

Check for good tires- DOT date code is on sidewall.

Trans is the mystery. Probably good one.

I like the look of it, but I don't turn-away many vehicles.

Hey guys. I bought the bus wanting to convert it and really don't know squat about buses or bigger rigs. I am told the transmission is more than likely and Allison 643. As far as the mileage/hours, not sure right now. The speedometer has an LCD readout on it and I went today to where I parked the bus and because it has been parked there for a couple months the batteries are dead and don't have enough juice to turn on the LCD display and I didn't have any jumper cables. There is an oil change sticker in the window that says "Next service due 8/1/17 mileage 106455. The school district decommission it before August of 2017, it was parked at their bus garage since. I bought it in October and drove it to where it is parked now and it has been parked since then. As far as the tires, there is still really good tread left on them and as Rusty said it did pass the WSP safety inspection for 2017.

They do not salt the roads here and we are not close to the ocean, so there is no more rust than normal on the underside. Like I said, it is parked at my inlaws and a little drive from my home. I will make it a point to get it started this weekend and get a few more pics from the underside and the tire numbers that rusty mentioned and have them ready to send and/or post. I have posted a pic of the vin plate that I took today while trying to get the mileage. I tried running it through a couple vin decoding websites, but most of them gave me some general information and saying there was an error with the 5th digit which is a "U" as you can see from the vin plate. But the websites say that a "U" is not a valid character for the 5th digit. They also say that it is a 2013 and it is not, it is a 1983 manufactured 10/83. Send me your email address if you're interested in more pics and I will get them taken this weekend and send them. If you have any other questions let me know and I will do my very best to get them answered. curtruggles@gmail.com

Lol, neither did most of us here. Why the change of heart, if I may be so bold?

Well hell, if you want to know about the bus, give Zillah bus garage a call and ask for history.

I'd buy it- looks legit to me.

We were excited about getting one and converting it, the opportunity presented itself and we jumped at it. It was a a total cart before the horse knee jerk kind of thing. Once we got it, then we started researching how to do the conversions and pricing it. While I could do almost all of the work to save on labor costs it would be a couple year project and we are a blended family, she has 5 kids and I have 3. Four of them are in college, 3 in middle school and 1 in elementary. The 4 still at home keep us really busy with dance and school sports. So we decided maybe we should just flip the bus (I am in talks right now with HGTV for a show idea) Just kidding. Gonna try to sell it and if we get a taker then good, if not I will start plugging away at it slowly.

Yeah, I've stopped by a few times over the last week or so since we decided to post it and can't quite get there when the head maintenance guy is there. All the bus drivers I've talked to just say "I don't know. I just drive them." Gotta get him pinned down though, he's the only one with a key to the "Black box" and I'd like to at least get it opened, so I can replace the lock with out having to drill it. The black box is a hard locked box that used to house the hard drive for the onboard camera system. So I'll get him cornered one day... I hope!

Was able to get the mileage from the odmeter this weekend. The mileage is 105529.6. And the DOT numbers from the tires. I found a stamped numbers on all but the front right tire (see pics below). Don't know about the two inside dually tires on the back though.

Dropping the price a lil.

Dropping my asking price to $3800.00. I have had quite a few inquiries on here and a few other sites I have it posted, but no serious lookers.
