Re: CASSETTE TOILETS OBSOLETE?

They stopped making them a few years after they stopped making the 8-track toilet.

I'm not sure who you are hearing that information from because cassette toilets are available all over the place, unless you mean a specific brand / model that has been discontinued. . .? Just Google "cassette toilet" and a crap load (no pun intended) of makes & models show up for sale.

Yeah, and the new DVD toilets hold much more crap than the 8-tracks & cassettes did, and in less space, plus you get high-res visuals!

Re: CASSETTE TOILETS OBSOLETE?

Not sure what Google you are using, but my Google brings up one manufacturer (THETFORD) and the RV places I have called said they do not make the cassettes anymore (for US sale).

Other than that, all the places that come up to purchase are in the UK or Australia.

So if your Google gives you a link to another manufacturer, please do share the link!!

RE: Thetford site - NOT IN AMERICA!!!!

If you go into the site here is what it says:
Where to buy Thetford products?
Thetford products are widely available from caravan accessory shops. For a point of sale near you, click on the link in the upper right hand corner to go to the dealer locator.

As a private individual, it is not possible to purchase goods directly from Thetford.

You are looking for a point of sale in which geographical area?

Austria
Belgium
Denmark
England
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Northern Ireland
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Scotland
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Wales

re: PPL Motor Homes

Correct me if I am wrong - but I do not see one single CASSETTE TOILET on that website...

Maybe I am confused about what constitutes a cassette toilet....

The porta potti/cassette toilet are two names for similar devices which provide toilet facilities where none are available.. The porta potti, just as the name implies is portable and can be placed anywhere. The cassette toilet is an option on many pop up campers and when purchased is attached to the pop up in a fixed location. Both of them use a similar system where a holding tank is removed for transport to a dump station (or into the sewer connection on site if available).
so do a search for porta potti and you should have plenty of choices.
here is the searchlink http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&sa...ta+potti&meta=

That's a porti potti, not a cassete toilet. I worked at an rv dealership in the parts dept here in Canda and was unable to find a distributor who carried one. You may need to ship one over from the UK.

This is a cassete toilet

http://www.homesteadcaravans.co.uk/imag ... Toilet.jpg

They seem easier to use than a porti potti. It is not fun carrying a container of poo through your living quarters. I like the idea of cutting an access for the removable cassete so you can empty from the outside. The best part about these systems is you can empty them at any bathroom. However you do get some odd looks from other patrons when you walk in with a big plastic box. I don't miss ours at all.
