For Sale: 2006 International DT466 71 pass.

Howdy all,

I recently purchased a bus from a local school district here in Texas. I would love to convert this bus myself, however I am going to focus on my own skoolie and sell this one to a good home. It is currently located in the Amarillo, TX area. Details below:

2006 International
Only 84K miles
DT466 engine
Allison Transmission
71 passenger
Flat Nose
Air brakes

This bus runs great! Plenty of power and will go highway speeds (unlike my own T444 w/ 4 speed ). I personally know the gentleman who maintained this fleet and I know that this bus was cared for when it was in service.

I am asking 12,000 for it, but will certainly move around for the right buyer. In addition, I'll take all the seats and racks out for a few hundred dollars more.

Text or email only at 8068981343 or cherrycoffeebus@gmail.com if seriously interested.

If I am way too high on price, please let me know. I do not want to highball as I do not know the value exactly which is why I am open to negotiations. Also feel free to message me on here about the bus!

Being a 2006 makes it worth $1000's less than a model 2004 or older, Honestly your bus is worth around $3500-$4000 max. Someone with more money might disagree.

If anyone offers you anything above what you paid take the money and run. Seriously though man- for twelve grand you really should pull the seats out.

Just out of curiosity why is it worth less being a 2006? It still has the DT466, so what is less desirable about the 06?

Emissions control started going into engines in 2004. These generally increase the cost of maintenance. People here generally look for 2003 buses or older (some 2004s have 2003 engines).

How do the emission controls increase the cost of maintenance? I don't see how that would drop the value so dramatically. The bus is in perfect condition; low miles, dry environment so no rust, right engine/transmission combo. I am not denying your expertise, I just want some clarification so I can better price and understand this bus.

Emissions control means more gadgets that can (and do) fail, and these are usually expensive gadgets. School systems know when these things are prone to fail and often unload new-ish buses (that can still legally transport children) for cheap just before this point to avoid these costs.

I get that you want to flip this bus, but skoolie.net is a tough crowd for that.

the later DT466's with were more failure prone.. People that operate bus fleets for taking kids to school all mention the beginning of EGR was the start of the end.. not to say your 466E isnt a good one.. but the historicals point to more issues.. once that engine took one step further in 07/08 and became the MaxxForce DT is when people really began to hate it...

while I personally would buy a 466E from 06, I sure wouldnt pay a premium for one.. the bus itself would have to be something really special for me to pay anywhere close to that.. heck I paid 20% of that for a 40 year old rust free Classic last year...

I dont even see Air Conditioning... maybe it has it but I cant see the units.. but 12K and no AC would be a run-run-run fast for me

The emissions engines from 04 and up are a real nightmare. I know two of the higher ups at the local Navistar center and they both tell me to avoid emissions engines like the plague.
Most of us ten to look for older buses due to the complexity and general low quality of manufacture on the later stuff.
