Remember that it only needs to be towed off their lot to the closest storage lot where you can work on it. Then you can install the drive shaft and batteries you will bring with you before you drive this baby home. And according to Google maps that is only 3.3 miles from where the bus currently is! Now that sounds like a plan! ;)

Don't like the story of he Drive Shaft: It runs but has no drive shaft. By looking at the interior it seems they've been cannibalizing it.........and now have decided to sell it..........Looks like it has rust through in some areas...I would have asked lots of questions and if they weren't answered passed in a heart beat. love pusher's with the 8.3 a far better engine that what typically is found in Schoolies.................good luck. Look forward to hearing the real story once you get it to safety..............

I think NostrilsOTB bought the bus in the original post. 2000 MVP. Not the 1990 cannibalized Saf-T-Liner.

A Thomas with a CAT and some rust..............Imagine that. Depending on the "rust" not a bad price.............but I hate rust.............and I know where there is a very decent Gillig that has the CAT and a 10 speed Road Ranger and zero rust where the ask is 500 bucks more than this Thomas. Hmmmnnnn Gillig? Thomas? Gillig? Thomas?................GILLIG ALL THE WAY.

Well almost for the Win. LOL..............Gillg? Crown? Gillig? Crown? Hmmmnnn CROWN FOR THE WIN. The finest Coach to ever be laid down on the asphalt of America.............A locomotive traversing the Highways and by-ways on concrete rails with with rubber clad wheels of steel. Or in the case of one of my Crowns. Alcoa's.............

Yup: Hard to argue mid engine: Hard to argue the finest grade hardened steel ever produced, hard to argue the highest grade heat tempered aluminum....Even if it were possible to argue against most of what I say.........it is not possible to argue against the largest brakes in the industry and the handling of a mid engined bus...........Now. If I could just find one that was 30ft. I would have the holy Grail. A thirty foot Porsche......

Seriously, if you ever find a crown in need of a good home... I'm ready to pull the trigger!
I'd settle for a Gillig, too...
I need a bus with curves!

The mid-engine aspect of them is the only part I don't like. I could live with it though.

What is it that bothers you about mid-engine East Coast CB.......??? I have to say that it's pretty much a bonus......Build quality with the handling characteristics of a 35 foot sports car. What's not to be liked there. Have you ever driven a Crown?

If the consideration is maintenance it's pretty straight for ward. Floor panels come up for an inframe. And if the whole engine needs to come out The bottom frame rails unbolt and the transmission and engine can be rolled right out. Surely less complicated than you might imagine. And tracking and handling are incredible.

Floor panels coming out? in something I'm living in full time?? nah, that is NOT an advantage, good sir. The rest of the attributes are quite nice.
Sports car handling would be nice. But its a bus, and I can live with bus handling.

I have incorporated beautiful aluminum stamped plate with soft Gasket and Zeus bolts.............mounts flush and the 16"X 6' 5" panel looks cool..............just a difference in priorities. My priorities above all things in handling. 4 airbags on the rear axle, two on the front adjustable heavy duty air shocks two per wheel.......Jakes and a whisper quiet cruising speed of 75 MPH at 1900 RPM's and the needle buried at 2300 RPM governed..........

Quiet sure tracking, cornering, are MY number one pleasure..........not a rattle not a squeak...........that gets me off. Makes me smile. The farther it gets to accelerating like a bus, and handling like a bus the more satisfaction I derive. That's just me. Some folks are quite content with houses on truck frames. I put 5000 miles on three different Crowns the month of September..............through the big storm on the West Coast, through snow in Flagstaff..............On the west coast with the high winds and rains there were times when I was the only vehicle on the road all the RV's and Semi Trailers were grounded and I sailed on through safely and surely through Grants Pass, the Siskisyou's and the Grapevine...............CROWN BABY. The finest piece of hardware ever laid down on an American Highway.........not arrogantly stated. But proudly stated.............. Moki

Hey- I said I like the crowns, I just think that everything has its own merit.
Besides, there are PLENTY of crown appreciation threads.
I mean, dude, I live on the EAST COAST. I have never even seen a crown.

BTW- my Ward doesn't have a single rattle or creak- when its sitting there not running!

.............Just stating my case. And hopefully in the course of human events you will have the opportunity not only to see one but drive one. Not to say your life won't be complete if that should never happen. I have much regard for those who step up an out and own a bus. All the best ..............

Right on.
I'm hoping to maybe buy one in a year or two once I'm in Oregon and maybe drive it back here. But for someone in the Southeast with $2000 to buy a bus, Crowns really aren't much of an option. I think you Westcoasters probably don't realize that sometimes.
I agree- anyone is a bus has my regard as well!
