Re: going to look at this weekend

The deal breaker was the rear of the bus on the outside. They cut about
a foot of the rear fender off behind the rear wheel on each side. Looks
real dorky. I tried to enhance the pic. as to show the rear cut off but it
didn't help much. I thought I had taken a full on side pic but I must have
deleted it by mistake.

The second pic is of the inside and you can see the huge box they built
on the inside with an outside door. Not a real deal breaker as I could
have put the bed over it some how.

I felt real comfortable driving this bus as I had logging skidders with the
Detroit motor in them. I got along with them real good. The standard
transmission helped too.

Re: going to look at this weekend

adding metal to the rear angled back like newer buses wouldn't be to hard, that way it's not abrupt cut off and you still have departure angle

Bansil,
I'm not sure I'm following you.
I did find the other photo's. I
had mis-filed them.
you can see the large door on the side
and the fender cut-offs on the side.
Look at that stout hitch on there too.

maybe make sure it's sealed good and then mount a generator in there? maybe other things? and then vent the door and paint it?

Bansil,
I like your idea and the storage thing could be real useful I think. It
is big; you could hide multiple body's in it.
It's cheap he's only asking $1700.00 for it.
Anybody know what kind of mileage these things get?

Re: going to look at this weekend

If I could find a bus that got 10-11mpg I'd be happy as a hog knee deep in alfalfa

My 1 ton van only gets 12.5 @ 55mph. Less faster soooo!!!!!

I get 9 with mine, mostly flat-footed. 10-11 is feasible with a diesel.

Re: going to look at this weekend

Oh, I already know it is an 8.2L of the non-turbo variety. It's been rebuilt not 5000 miles ago. It's slow and trudjy but I'm not looking for a cross country machine. In front of the Spicer 5 SPD. It'd do fine I think. Besides I haven't jumped just yet. He's got someone else looking at it tomorrow. We'll see if they'll pay him what he's asking first.

OK, was hoping you weren't going to say 6.2 or 6.5. Unlikely but you never know.

Re: going to look at this weekend

The good news in all of this is there are a lot of buses out there for sale and I do have SOME time to look. I'm looking for a bus to live in this winter so I would like to get one before it gets to late so I can get it buttoned up good before the weather turns south on me.

Are you anywhere near Bismarck? You should check out Harlow Bus. I got my bus there.

I've been by there but never stopped. Up in Rugby; right?
That bus I looked at that was all cut up was from there at
one point. They rebuilt it I guess.

Take a look at this one. Guy says this one is a runner.
Only a mother could love this one.
Guy says it's powered by a Ford 460.
It's a real morphodyte man!!

Re: going to look at this weekend

It's unique, and you are not going to miss it somewhere. I think it is so ugly it has almost passed over into cool looking.... maybe a better paint job would push it over. You should buy it and let us know how it turns out!
