Yup. GM 455 gasser engine with front wheel drive and torsion bar rear suspension. I'd love to rehab one of these.

rear suspension is air bag, there is an airbag between the 2 rear wheels on each side
and a common swap is to switch out the olds 455 for a cadilac 472 or 500 built to 1970 specs, last year before they were smogged

Even after watching one of these things disintegrate in a wreck on the AL-Can hwy in 1974, like others I still dream of owning one of these beautiful machines. What Raymond Lowey did to the Studebaker Avanti is what GM did to It's RV. Art and form and function--who gives a s*!@ about gas mileage!

Get one 75 or older & there is no smog, at least in Ca.

not talking about the smog test, but from 1971 and newer, GM v8's lost compression, power and fuel mileage all in the name of NoX emissions reductions
the 472 in my 69 cadilac was rated at 390 hp and over 500 ftlb of torque, the 500 in my 76 eldo was rated at 190 HP and 390 ftlb of torque and got half the mileage of the 69
